Re: Graft
I'd say don't rush in to this. Many people have been told to have a graft due to corneal scarring, but I know alot that changed the lens type to scleral or soft lenes and the scarring has reduced so no longer a need for a graft. It is worth asking the hospital what other lens options are available t...

Re: scleral lenses pain
I don't wear sclerals, but I have heard people suffer this as a result of oxygen starvation to the corne which in most cases was resved by adding 'fenestrations' I think they are called which helps an element of tear flow in to the saline filled lens and improved oxygen permeability.

Re: Education
In the days before suport groups and PowerPoint presentations at University, I had a dicatphone taperecorder that I had to purchase from the RNIB to record all my lectures and the lecturers photocopied the diagrams that went with their lectures and I had to cop everything out by hand. This was only ...

Re: Update
No idea about the plasma coating, but a graft due to corneal scaring is a worry. I know many people who have been told this is why they have needed a graft wich is an absolute last resort as you may still need contact lenses. Instead most of these people tried different lens types, sclerals, soft le...

Re: Kerasoft - quick question
With all contact lenses there should be a tear film between the contact les and the eye.
What makes contact lenses different from 'normal' contact lenses is their design. As to the mechanism of how they work is best put to the providers of these lenses.

Re: slightly anxious
I think it took me a couple of months to get used to putting the slightly larger diameter soft lens in but within a week I managed to get used to the new sensation of a lens being permanenty under the lids.

Re: Kerasoft - quick question
Ali Blink out or drop an RGP lens and it will more than likely chip as it hits a hard surface. A soft lens there is no such issue. So far I have never had a bist of grit or dust go under a soft lens, in an RGP lens it always did and abraded bothe the lens and my eye. With a soft lens any dust or gri...

Re: Kerasoft - quick question
It depends on which Kerasofts you have as they do a 3 month and 12 month version. The 12 month is the 77% lens while the 74% is the 3month lens, you can find these numbers on the side of the bottle and more on the Kerasoft Web Site When I had the three month lenses, I used to wear them for beyond th...

Re: slightly anxious
What you describe is how my RGP lens intolerance started but a change to the soft lenses for KC fixed this and I have now been wearing soft lenses for KC for as many years than I was in RGP's. If you factor in the extra wear time I have with the soft lenses, I have actually been wearing soft lenses ...

Re: driving and KC
Very much case by case depending on your level of vision, KC stability lens tolerance etc.
