Hi Sophie, I know that others will disagree with me, but I feel that if the time has genuinely arrived for a graft, you shouldn't postpone it. At the moment, you still have a "good eye" that will keep you working whilst your grafted eye goes through the healing, changing process. My graft came at a ...

Hi Damien, Welcome to the forum! "Rose K" lenses are basically rigid gas permeable lenses for people with KC. I'm not quite sure what's special about them, but I certainly found them much more comfortable than "regular" RGP lenses. "Scleral" lenses are simply huge. Because they sit on the insensitiv...

Hi Nathan, and welcome to the group. Firstly, you don't need to panic. Categorically, you will not go blind with KC. Treatment tends to progresss along the lines of glasses, RGP contact lenses, (sometimes: a different sort of RGP lens, maybe "Rose K" or "softperm") scleral lenses and in the most sev...

I'd try a local independant optician - they generally provide excellent service.

I know exactly the case type you mean - my optician was all too please to give them away, as none of her other patients liked them, and they came "free" in the starter packs of solutions from manufacturers.

Hello Janet, The difficult answer for you is that everyone with Keratoconus seems to be different. However, I've not come across anyone who claims that their KC is actually painful. If a hydrops episode develops, that can be very painful apparently; but that does clear up either on its own after a f...

Is this a cause of KC?

I just came across this on an old BBC News story: Around 3,000 corneal grafts are carried out every year. Many are needed because of keratoconus, a disorder of the shape of the cornea, or corneal disease, often caused by cataract surgery. Does anyone know if this is true - do people contract KC foll...

That's a really interesting question. One thing is for sure though - the UK's Disability Discrimination Act will protect those of us who can't have (as opposed to don't want) bright lights shone in the eyes. This is similar to the new Chip&PIN credit cards - a lot of work is being done because o...

Hello David,

I think your suggestion that the KC makes the optician's life difficult must be correct.

In my case, I was diagnosed with KC and Diabetes on the same day by my optician - the KC diagnosis proved to be correct.

The Diabetes suggestion, thankfully, was not.

Hello Chris, and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems with the Police and the RAF. There's usually people around here that can help.

All you have to do is ask
