Re: Can I wear contact lenses?

Not sure if you are being seen by the ophthalmic department of a general hospital or a specialist eye hospital? As Anne has said many of us have worn lenses over the top of a graft. Most lens types are possible, but I know that at Moorfields the preferred choice is a scleral lens as they vault over ...

Re: Moorfields face masks

If you want maximum protection when others around you are not mask wearing you need to wear an FFP3 mask https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFP_standards There is an argument made by my GP, who is very cautious, that excessive long-term mask wearing when you don't need to, could increase your vulnerabi...

Re: How do you clean your plunger...?

I think most of us who have been prescribed sclerals from Moorfields are taught to insert and remove them without using a plunger. Pardon the pun, when I swapped I didn't look back, and drove a 200 mile round trip without all the ghosting and flashes I had before, let alone the fear of the RGPs fall...

Re: RGP and Soft no good - any recommendations?

Yes, but it does depend whether your Optom has experience of fitting them.

Re: Over 70s and DVLA

Yes, they have created an interesting scenario now. If you previously had one of the listed conditions but have subsequently had a graft presumably you do not now need to report at all - but don't quote me!

Re: RGP and Soft no good - any recommendations?

Many of us progress from RGPs to Sclerals because the RGPs become increasingly difficult to fit or are just plain uncomfortable. Fitted wel,l they should be good for even the most challenging KC affected corneas as there is no contact with the cornea only the white part of your eye.

Re: Subconjunctival haemorrhage anyone?

There is no one clear specific cause. Some websites list "predisposing factors" which might be a more helpful interpretation. Like this one.

Re: Subconjunctival haemorrhage anyone?

I think the first time you contact the hospital one way or another. Then you are more relaxed about it. It looks like you've been poked in the eye! I've certainly no pain.

I'm interested to see how common they are, and if you are, are you plagued by them?

Subconjunctival haemorrhage anyone?

Does anyone else suffer from subconjunctival haemorrhages? I've had three this year. They are generally not considered an 'issue' by hospitals and do not require intervention but can be alarming the first time.
