Re: Recovery periods of CXL and INTACS???

I had my intacs surgery last november, and was cleared in April this year to start trying CL. I am in Kerasoft 3 lenses, went with this option mainly because we had tried every other option previously and my CL fitter had since obtained the kerasoft 3 fitting sets - one of the previous attempts of C...

Re: Recovery periods of CXL and INTACS???

Depending on the consultant depends on whether they recommend intacs then cxl or cxl then intacs. I had the latter on my left eye. I have since been fitted successfully and comfortably with kerasoft 3 lens. Prior to the operations i couldnt get on with contact lenses for any length of time, it has o...

Re: DALK procedure - when is it inevitable & urgent?

I would be asking what her vision is actually like without glasses or CL. For example my measure is for me to have legal vision with correction to drive. This also means i can manage computer work etc. If she has managed so far without vision correction (if she has reasonable vision) then i would be...

Re: CXL for son - right thing to do?

Was the CL fitter in a hospital clinic or on the high street? Some of the larger clinics, like st peters, have their own opticians and CL fitters. Other clinic outsource it to a high street opticians. Benefits and downsides to both, but one to consider is the range of fitting sets that each has to o...

Re: It's not easy fitting lenses for KC

I only wish more optometrists would look at KC in a different light. Mention KC to most and they shy away with trepidation, only because they lack the confidence or see you as a 'problem' case (no offence intended). I must be one of the lucky ones, as I am fitted at a independant high street optici...

Re: DSA Assessemnt

Cant help with the DSA, but dont downplay your problems. Think about your worst case scenario (scratched cornea so not able to wear lenses at all for days) and tell them about that possibility. If you dont find the hard lenses comfortable have you spoken with your CL fitter to see if any of the newe...

Re: CXL for son - right thing to do?

You dont say what area you are in, but i found that the NHS clinic i was under initially had little or no clue about either CXL or Intacs for KC - so just wanted to manage/monitor my KC. I suspect this is partly due to the low numbers that pass through the clinic so the staff dont have time to read ...
