Re: Advice required please
Hallo Kyle and welcome. What a palaver! I agree with Anne: certainly a complaint to Vision Express sounds in order. I'd also be complaining about the GP. You have deteriorating eyesight - incidentally, is this just a subjective verdict, or have you had eye tests at an ordinary optician? Can the opti...

Re: Alternative to Miraflow cleaner
I use exactly what the makers of my contact lenses say they use themselves to clean the lenses they make: washing up liquid. Mine are sclerals, so I rinse them off, wipe dry and store dry. They are made of RGP material and come from Innovative Sclerals in Hertford. I expect there will now be a rush ...

Re: Having to receive Corneal graft?
Hi xloz69x! I think the time off work post-graft depends on: 1. the type of gr anaesthetic you have 2. what type of work you do 3. the type of graft and how well it settles 4. maybe the surgeon's preferences. If you have a general anaesthetic, you will need some type off to get over feeling groggy f...

Re: Wearing Contact AND Glasses at the same time
Yes . When I wear the new lens I got for the grafted eye, I need reading glasses for anything at less than arm's length. That means, not just reading (on paper0 and computer use, but also sugh things as grooming a horse, or pulling up ragwort (a horse-poisoning weed). Or cooking, washing up, etc. I ...

Re: Misjudging depth/distance
Oh, frequently!!!! Regularly have bruised knees/thinghs from walking round pieces of furniture, misjudging it and banging into the corners. Walk down the street with friends, and they end up well ahead of me, cos I'm so bemosed at not being able to judge the gaps between oncoming pedestrians I have ...

Re: Recovery time after DALK?
Hi. I was told to reckon on 2 weeks off work, and no heavy lifting, or pushing/pulling, for at least 6 eeks. That doesn't include driving... have never been able to drive, so not applicable. As others have said, depends on how well you can see to drive out of the other eye. Also: is it possible to g...

Re: Weaning off piggybacks?
Moorfields DO indeed give daily disposables for piggybacking - at least, they did to me, for PB under sclerals (sic!) ANd being unpowered, they do not have a charge for them. Theoretically..... I had quite a hoohah about this a few years ago, when no-one knew whether I was supposed to be charged or ...

Re: Eye sore after sutures removed
Hi - hope the soreness is rapidly wearing off. My eye had all the stitches removed in May - it was a single 16 point running stitch, so when it broke, they had to take the lot out. THe main cause of soreness, though was 1. the loose end rubbing when it broke - twice, as the first time, they just cut...
