Eye Test Advice

Hi Everyone, I'm seeking some advice. For the last 4 years I've been relying on the eye tests given by the Optometrist dept at my local hospital. The last high street eye test was back in 2003 when Specsavers detected the KC and referred me to my GP. I've recently been into a local independent optic...

Thanks for the good advice/tips. Have bookmarked the link. I can only assume that the left lens is indeed inside out. Will attempt to take the lenses out now and try and see if I can spot the lip.

I'm in a similar position to you Gareth. Wore ill-fitting RGPs for 3 years and was then told by my Hospital last summer to get by with just wearing specs. After reading about Kerasoft on this forum, I finally had a chance to persuade them to take a chance and let me try a set. I've been wearing the ...

Glad to hear you are feeling better Donna! Just wanted to say that I can personally relate the to the ups and downs as well as all of the other comments posted above. I agree the most concerning aspect of KC is coping with its uncertain progression and the lack of a definitive cure. It got me thinki...

Thanks for the tips! I tried calling a handful of opticians yesterday regarding the Igel contacts without luck. Resorted to calling the Hospital again and explained the constant headaches behind my right eye and thankfully I've managed to get an appointment next week. I'm going to push them hard so ...

Do 'off-the-shelf' contact lenses help in anyway with KC vis

In June my optician at St James Hospital took away my RGPs after 3 years of unsuccessful fittings. Since then I've been getting away with wearing glasses. I often get a dull headache by the end of a days work, but figure this is less painful then constantly sore, itching and blood-shot red eyes. I'm...

Also suffer from rubbing the eyes however after 3 years of living with KC I'm getting far better at avoiding them. Its especially hard during the hay fever season. The problem I have is that I'm almost certain that I rub my eyes whilst asleep since I often wake up with a blood-shot right eye - The w...

Hi Beldine,

Did you buy the contacts direct from Cantor or were you referred elsewhere?

Thanks Gareth. After having my last pair of RGP contacts taken away after 2 years of unsuccessful fittings, I'm certainly going to ask them about Kerasoft during my next visit to St James's in Leeds. Whilst I've got used to wearing glasses, I really miss the freedom and refined vision contacts can o...

Is it possible to get Kerasoft on the NHS?

If not, do the likes of Boots opticians prescribe them?
