Hello all Not sure if this will help or not however, I know someone who has MS and applied for DLA. They suggested I should apply too, although as yet I haven't as I feel a bit of a fraud (I think I am still coming to terms with everything). It was suggested to me that all first time applications ar...

Am I right in thinking Amidose is sterile saline in a rigid type tube? When I was given scleral lenses 18 months ago I was advised to use STERETS Normasol (suggested on the label as for the topical irrigation of the eyes, burns and wounds). I was told it was going to be probably the only solution th...

Penny - Hope all goes well at your appointment. I have my next appointment on 16th Dec after a few bad months, things seem a lot better now though. Ann - fingers crossed, hopefully you will start getting somewhere again. It is awful when you can't see, as I am sure you can imagine and also extremely...

Gillian makes a good point, someone who is EXPERIENCED but how do you know or find out? I find it unlikely they would tell you they were only just starting out or were relatively inexperienced and in fairness to them they all have to start somewhere and as it is not such a common lens to fit these d...

Hello Helen What John describes re the fitting process was the same for me, more or less. I was lucky enough also to be made to wear a very fashionable yellow plastic apron, as I was going to get wet so I was told. The experience itself was no worse for me than having RGP corneal lenses poked into m...

Hannah Glad it got you a reply. It does not sound too bad, in fact to me not much worse than the first time sclerals were tried with me (a yellow plastic apron, not much warning of what was about to happen next and an optometrist each side of me, to hold me down I asked?) It must be a little concern...

Hannah Great, Moorfields seem to be very interested in KC. My sclerals lens fittings have only been possible due to Ken Pullum and courses that he has offered to others in his field of work. Luckily for me the chap I see attended and also has an interest although he is still very young so maybe does...

Hi Hannah With regards to the Minims Artificial Tears you can get them over the counter at the chemist or on prescription. I can't remember exactly how much we were told they were but I do remember it was cheaper on prescription and my GP prescribes me with 80 at a time (which is 4 boxes). I also ge...
