Re: Good luck to Rosemary
Rosemary, really sorry to hear how tough things have been for you post-graft, it sounds like you've really had an awful time of things. I'm sorry the hospital have been less than forthcoming with information, that doesn't help when you're keen to get to the bottom of things and try to piece together...

Scleral lenses
For a long time now I've been trying to get used to RGP lenses. I have a graft in one eye and with glasses and mainly using the grafted eye's vision, I've been able to get by with usable vision. The RGP problems have unfortunately been from all sides - Moorfields struggled to get any kind of fit on ...

Re: KC link: kcglobal.org
Vision 2020 is doing a fantastic job - I was talking to an optometrist about it when I was in Madagascar earlier in the year. It is very humbling to know just how much that aim can be achieved (eliminating avoidable vision loss) just through enabling more people in developing countries to have acces...

Re: Am I the only one?
I have to say that in a slightly different context, I have noticed exactly the same thing. It brought me to the conclusion that sometimes what we lack in sight, we make up for with pattern recognition - so I can sometimes recognise a word from a distance as much by its length / the general 'shape' o...

Re: Profile, PM's and font size jumping
Ah, that makes sense, I usually run on IE7 because it's what I'm used to, but I've just tried using the forum on Firefox because I have that installed too - and it doesn't jump then. Although interestingly, even though the font size seems to be roughly the same in both IE and Firefox, in IE it seems...

Re: Profile, PM's and font size jumping
Lou, to get to the profile information - under the red title box at the top of the forum is a blue box with 2 lines of text in. The bottom lines says 'user control panel' - click here. The words 'user control panel' then appear in large grey letters, and underneath there are a series of tabs. The se...

Re: Dominican Republic
You'd need to make sure that everything such as tetanus / diphtheria was up to date. Additionally, you need Hep A, Typhoid, and BCG. Hep B is a good one to have too albeit not essential (one of the plus points to working the health service usually is having to be up to date with it as it takes sever...

Re: Sutures Coming Out
For my PK I had a combination of individual stitches and also a continuous stitch. As I rmember it most of my stitches came out due to unravelling themselves, necessitating trips to casualty to get them removed, although a few of the individual stitches were removed during outpatient appointments ab...

Personally, I would say that for me there is quite a big difference between having regrets, and things not going ok. I had a rejection episode and some problems with my sutures after I had my graft (almost 6 years ago) but I do not regret having it done. Yes there were problems but my vision with th...
