Re: 2018 AGM - 17 March - election of committee

The AGM is indeed carried out according to our constitution which is approved by the Charity Commission. Basically, there are no positions available for election. Those present at the AGM who are entitled to a vote (members who are on our mailing list) get a chance to elect a committee. Each year fo...

Re: New sight registration for KC?

Jolly Roger,

What makes you think that we haven't sent out a newsletter this year? Please PM me with your real name and address and I can look into why you've not received any.

Regards,

John

Re: Is there anyone with KC who childdren have not got it.

Hi Lola,

From the talk that we had a couple of years ago by Mr. Tuft, the stats are something like:

If a parent has KC, then there is a 7% chance of a child developing KC.
If both parents have KC, then (depending on which genes each parent have) the odds are between 7-49%.

Re: Bi annual KC Group conferences on the website

Oops - that's my fault - sorry. I've corrected that link now. We currently only have the 2016 conference online (plus one or two other videos), but as we re-process those old files, we plan to make more videos available; and certainly we will be continuing to promote the videos online rather than vi...

Re: Newsletters

I think we've had one so far in 2017, with another soon to appear. I'll check why the latest one isn't online.

I wasn't involved with this at the time, but I don't see such a thing at Moorfields when I visit.

Re: Member of the UK KC self help & support group

No, you're not automatically a member if you are posting on the forum.

Members receive our newsletters, and we need to have full postal addresses for that, so the charity membership registration is different to the forum one.

Re: Success rates of corneal transplants in the UK

I suspect that nobody knows the answers to all of your questions. That's why your consultant couldn't tell you. Plus it is really complicated as driving standard means using both eyes, and most KCs are not affected the same in each eye. Remember though that the point of a graft is to make the vision...

Re: Moderator in spirit?

Thanks for pointing this out. Andrew sadly passed away just a week after we lost our 5 year old daughter, and I had no interest in maintaining the forum at that point. I've now removed Andrew's name as moderator, but of course retained his 7000+ posts.
