Re: C3R Cross Linking
I had mine done at 254 microns and it worked to stabilize my cornea. This can be done without removing the epithelium. I went to Dr. Swanson in Mexico, he will do it on very thin corneas if you are out of options. I had it done in that eye twice.

Re: C3R - Corneal Collagen Crosslinking!
I had Intacs and then C3R on my "good" eye without having the epithelium removed. I had the same procedure done on my "bad" left eye with a corneal thickness of 254. It increased to 369 and Intacs were done on that eye. Please note that my case was highly unusual and I'm not sure...

Re: One of the five percent.
I paid the bill. . . only because if something did happen to me, this would likely be the doctor called to do an emergency transplant. He's a bit full of himself. I have most of my records, they are published on the internet. My story is published here: http://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/forum/view...

Re: Does anyone else have PMD?
I have a wicked case of PMD. From what I understand, the difference is the cone is usually offset and not centered on the eye, and there is an extremely flat band. I notice that some objects at a certain angle have a very sharp, defined edge. My PMD responded very well to Intacs and C3R, but the rec...

Re: One of the five percent.
Let me share something about this. My US cornea surgeon did not tell me any of the risks, nor that he knew I had a very high likelihood of rejecting in two years. It was even doubtful whether a first attempt could be done given that the area directly above my blood supply was so thin, it looked like...

Re: One of the five percent.
I need to clarify that. . . I believe Swanson was quoting US statistics on transplant failure, not worldwide. The US health care system is a dismal failure, in my humble opinion. My insurance company actually fought with me about getting a Lamellar and would only pay for a full transplant. They refu...

Re: One of the five percent.
I know that Dr. Swanson in Mexico deals with many patients who have developed KC in their transplants, this seems to be a growing problem. Your story is the exact reason why I refused a transplant and went the experimental route. Man, this just burns me up! I think it is an important story to get ou...

Re: New lens problems
Have you tried any other eye drops? I use Acular which is an anti-inflammatory. It makes wearing my lenses bearable. I also find that using allergy drops (Patanol) also helps keep things in check. When my eyes hurt like that, it usually means I had my lenses in too long. Since I only have discomfort...

Re: HI!! New to the Forum and need a bit of advice!!
I had C3R done once in my good eye, twice in my bad, with the second time having the epithelium lasered off. This is just my opinion, but I would not have it done unless I had no other options. I would definitely do the Intacs first as it is relatively reversible (a matter of semantics at this point...

Re: HI!! New to the Forum and need a bit of advice!!
Ahhh, I see, thank you for clearing that up. Health care is so different in various countries. I had to go to Mexico for my Intacs because I could not get C3R done in the US. I was able to shop around for doctors, but I pay all my costs out of pocket, which is several thousand each year. I figure it...
