Re: Flippin air bubbles in scleral lens

Hi there. I've had keritaconus and GPLenses for 60 years but only recently developed dry eye syndrome. Drops have stopped the pain but I'm getting serious "fogging" - especially in the twice grafted eye. My specialist has now recommended mini sclerical lenses and I've been for two visits t...

Re: Cross linking prior to cataract operation

Many thanks to both of you for your input. I'll definitely bear this in mind. With any procedure, of course there's going to be a percentage where things don't work out right and, whereas with both of my corneal transplants in the left eye, there really was no choice (in the first case, it was the v...

Re: Solutions

I seem to have perfected the right method for me after decades! I leave mine overnight in Total Care Disinfecting, Storing and Wetting Solution. In the morning, I clean with the Daily Cleaner, rinse thoroughly (if not, it's like putting washing up liquid in my eyes), then rinse again with the Disinf...

Cross linking prior to cataract operation

My optician has just told me I have the beginning of a cataract in my right eye. (The other eye has had two corneal grafts and a cataract op, all done prior to ten years ago). This eye has had keratoconus controlled by a gas permeable lens for 35 years, but my last two check-ups have shown a downtur...

Re: WOW 2 years have passed

Hi again Lea - Thanks for your help re drops. I've only been on the forum a couple of years and wish I'd known about it earlier. Until then, I'd assumed the pains and watering in my eyes were just a result of sensitivity caused by having grafts in one of them. I was told I had KC 35 years ago at the...

Any problems with Hypromellose?

Have had KC for 35 years and been wearing GP lenses for 50 years. I've also had two grafts and a cataract op in my left eye. Last month I had to have a lid lift - Having spent all those years removing my lenses by tugging at the sides of the eyes, my lids were low enough to be affecting my sight. My...

Re: How do you define the "pain" of KC?

Thanks for your response Steve. Having heard any number of people refer to pain, it left me wondering if I was somewhat different. You've also mentioned something I've not heard from others - that your eyes appear more sensitive which can be uncomfortable. That's certainly something I've found - a ...

Re: Just been diagnosed

I can understand your concern about the cost, but would say that by finding a really good optician, that cost can be minimised as can any fears about our condition. I had my first graft in my mid-20s, a re-graft at 50 and that is still going strong 13 years later. My optician has always been the one...

How do you define the "pain" of KC?

I was diagnosed with KC 35 years ago, have had two corneal grafts and a cataract op in my left eye, but with my right eye remaining untouched. The diagnosis was made based on the change in my vision but at no time did anyone question me about or refer to the light sensitivity, which in fact I've onl...
