Re: Problems with Keratoconus and New Glasses
Hi Anthony. Well first of all, it sounds like your optom has looked after you quite well - not many would straight away opt for two reglazes without a good period of adaptation after such a change in prescription! Do you know what your previous prescription was? I imagine that there has been quite a...

Re: dry eye
There are lots of different causes and types of dry eye, and what you use to treat/alleviate symptoms will depend largely on what is going on. I would strongly recommend asking your optometrist about which drops/treatments would be best for you, as he/she will have examined your tear quality and wil...

Re: Wondering what to do.
Hi. It sounds like you have tried many of the eye drops that are available, so I can understand your frustration. Have you tried simple lifestyle adaptations, such as using humidiers, avoiding air-con, regular blinking exercises? You can also try some dietary adaptations - eating a diet rich in dark...

Re: what can optoms do differently?
An optom with keratoconus - interesting! How severe is your particular case, in terms of VA with lenses? Have you had to make many adaptations to your routine, eg. Volk etc, as a result? PQEs are soul-destroying. There aren't really any huge tips other than just work work work work work. Haha. Did y...

Re: Down's sydrome and Keratoconus
It sounds like your daughter is doing amazingly well! I'd also just like to say how fantastic Maggie Woodhouse is - I sat in on quite a few of her special assessment clinics while I was at uni, and always left the room feeling really inspired by her work. Wonderful woman.

Re: what can optoms do differently?
Hello Lynn. I haven't really given much thought to keratoconic fittings, if I'm honest. I'm coming towards the end of pre-reg at the moment, and there are so many areas that I would like to explore further; keratoconus is just one of them! I work in a large multiple, and although we have a keratocon...

what can optoms do differently?
Hello. I'm a young optometrist who is fairly new to the game, and have seen only a handful of keratoconics. In a quest to improve my handling of these situations, particularly in first time diagnoses, I thought I'd ask for some opinions from the patients themselves on how they feel diagnosis should ...
