Re: Topography scans possible with deep set eyes?
Hi Russ, Welcome to the forum. Please don't worry about having "deep set eyes"! It is something we encounter routinely. Acquiring good topographic data can be a little more tricky but can be achieved by an experienced user. I would like to point out that the "operating distance" ...

Re: Pellucid Marginal Degeneration
Hi Chutley, There could well be surgical options for you. The only way to find out is to have an appropriate consultation. At Accuvision we have safely treated patients like yourself. We would be happy to assess the pros and cons of laser treatment versus intraocular implants, as we have lots of exp...

Re: Hello all!
Hi Matt, Have you considered or discussed the possibility of Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking yet? It may well be that the KC has progressed so far that a graft is the only option but it is worth finding out if there are any alternatives first. Even if it is too late to cross-link your weakest eye, it...

Re: Keratoconus-Cross-linking effective over 40?
Welcome to the forum, I am an Optometrist at Accuvision where we regularly perform Corneal Collagen Cross-linking treatments. We have treated many patients like yourself and of a similar age. It is appropriate to consider cross-linking when the condition is still progressing, although after the age ...

Dear Daniel, I'm Anthony, an Optometrist with specialist knowledge and experience of contact lens fitting for keratoconics. I have been fitting contact lenses for patients like yourself for 10 years. Re: 1st post a little help
Hi Alex, I would suggest your first priority is to have better fitting, more comfortable lenses. There are many different types, so although it takes time and effort for both you and your clinician, it's definitely worth pursuing. As far as surgery goes, you need to be assessed to find out which pro...

Re: Advice needed
Hi Mandie, Welcome to the Forum! Since your son has been recently diagnosed, I would suggest the next step is to find out how far the condition has developed. Every keratoconus patient is diagnosed at different stages and only by regular monitoring can we know if the condition is stable or progressi...

Re: Which hospitals are KC 'centres of excellence'?
Absolutely right,
however in some cases it is possible to perform further laser treatment to improve the vision, together with cross-linking to stabilise the cornea. Unfortunately that option is unlikely be discussed by the NHS.

Re: Tips and Suggestions Please
Hi Emma, As you have discovered from the replies here, it is always a possibility that the second eye may develop keratoconus at some stage and in fact from experience it may already be there in an extremely mild form. The best way to find out is to have your corneal topography assessed - mapping th...
