Re: Dealing with anxiety and depression from KC

Hi Mal, Obviously I can only speak from personal experience however I find that contacts make a significant different to my vision. Without - can't read the top row on the Snellen chart, With - 6/9 or even 6/6 on a good day. I can understand the anger and depression, I was in the same place after I ...

Re: Spare lenses - are they are luxury or a necessity?

Agreed. First time one of my lenses broke and I found out it was 3/4 weeks for a replacement I bought a spare pair, just couldn't function well enough at work on one eye. With subsequent prescription changes I've just kept the previous ones as spares. I must admit I don't think to clean the spares, ...

Re: Is it this expensive for everyone?

Hi Gary, I was first diagnosed at a similar age to you. My optician referred me to the local hospital and the most I've paid the NHS is £114 for a pair of lenses. My hospital also only charge this a maximum of once per year - this was helpful in the early days when my prescription was changing quite...

Quattro solution - good price

I usually pay between £19 and £22 for the 3 month pack, it's currently £14.49 on Amazon. Just bought 2 and they're dated 09/2021. https://charts.camelcamelcamel.com/uk/B004AFBON8/new.png?force=1&zero=0&w=725&h=440&desired=false&legend=1&ilt=1&tp=all&fo=0&lang=en

Re: At what point did you 'give in' to keratoconus?

I think of it as 'accept' rather than 'give in' but that is probably influenced by the fact that I'm not affected as badly as many others. When I was still able to wear glasses I was obsessed about achieving 'perfect' vision. As soon as I noticed any slight degradation I was back to the optician and...

Re: Next London members meeting 19th March

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year :-( If anyone hasn't been before I can thoroughly recommend it - a great chance to meet fellow KC's and the presentations are always interesting. Anne, if the session could be recorded - even if only audio - it would be helpful for those who can't m...

Re: diagnosis in 30s

Hi Toffee, I was around the same age as you when I was first diagnosed, became apparent when my glasses prescription went from changing every 18 months to every 6 months. Managed with glasses for a few more years until I reached the point I couldn't drive and swapped to contacts. Been through three ...
