Anne's point is an extremely important one in my view. From casual observation, the majority of posts on this site are either from those whose KC has unfortunately progressed to the point where it has a more profound effect on their lifestyles, or those who are newly diagnosed. Clearly, and for diff...

KC in the Autumn years
Never seem to read much about how KC affects those who are relatively older, i.e. in their 70's or 80's. Is anyone on here an elder statesman or woman, or know a KC sufferer who is? Perhaps by this age, the condition will have stabilised, but it would be useful to know what life has in store for us ...

Hi Prue In response to your enquiry about kidney related medical conditions, I had nephrotic syndrome as an eight year old. More recently I had kidney stones (not pleasant!!), but that probably is not related or relevant. What is it that leads you to think your four year old is presenting some KC sy...

Hi Mattsaze Thanks for your interest. The covernotes on the encyclopedia states; 'this new edition of the BMA A-Z Family Medical Encyclopedia has been prepared by a highly qualified team of doctors and medical editors, overseen by Dr Michael Peters a consulting medical editor for the BMA'. Hope this...

The BMA's view!
Someone brought the latest edition of the British Medical Association's A-Z Family Medical Encyclopedia into my office. The entry under 'Keratoconus' makes interesting reading. I quote: 'An inherited disorder of the eye, in which the cornea becomes gradually thinned and conical. The condition affect...

Carol The issue of vanity over functionality hadn't entered into my mind. As I said in my post, it is clear that many of us who have KC have no option but to move to Cl's as the condition progresses beyond the point where glasses can help. The point I am making is that there is a school of thought w...

With regard to age-related progression, I was first diagnosed at 18. I am now 44 and achieve correction through glasses only. My left eye is stronger than my right, and the glasses do not really help my right eye. With glasses I can achieve 6/5 on my good eye and this allows me to lead a fairly norm...

Hi Rosemary Clearly when the KC progression is rapid, then it is necessary and unavoidable to move quickly to cl's. The circumstances I'm talking about are when decent (depends on how you define this I guess) vision can still be achieved with specs. At this stage, is there a case for persisting with...
