Re: Soft Lenses / Keratoconus

Lynn/Ali, What a facinating debate, thank you. To summerise ,from a patients point of view I would say all we want is to be given the best possible chance of leading a normal life whether that be by using RGP or soft lenses, but many people are being denied this by to many optoms having pre-consieve...

Re: Blood donation

I have been giving blood for over twenty years ,and by pure chance on the day I read this I had made a donation. To be honest I have never asked the question regarding KC and blood donation and have never had any adverse effects personally, but sometimes by asking the question you will get a negativ...

Lens Fitting

I am currently wearing a Jack Allen flexi edge lens in my left eye that gives me good vision but unfortunately the fit is too tight so my eye is really sore for a couple of days after wearing it, not ideal.(right Ok with toric lens) My optom decided a while ago that he would order me a new one with ...

Cost of Kerasoft IC

Guys, I am now seriously considering going down the private route to enable me to try Kerasoft. We have settled on Frequency Exel Toric from Coopervision, a soft monthly disposable for my right eye (better eye), and this is OK, but my optom is still insisting that even after 10 unsuccessfull attempt...

Re: does this happen to you too?

Leili,

Yes I do find I can improve vision in this way, but when I mentioned this many years ago to an optician I was told never to do this as it could cause further damage, and as Martin said you can get the same effect looking through a pin hole.

Re: could it be true?

Leili

This theory works for me as I sleep on the left (bad eye side).

The only problem with this is that Mrs Fordy says I snore on my back but thats the way it has to be from now on!!

Cheers

Re: what makes ur KC progress?

Leili,

All I would say is leave it as long as you can because there is no going back.
I wish I had been explained the risks of contacts as it seems you have been.
Good luck with what ever you decide.

Cheers,

Re: what makes ur KC progress?

Leili, There are some of us who believe that the wearing of contact lenses can speed up the progression of KC, especially when they are RGP's. My KC seemed to progress after wearing them, but I know this is a subject that can cause great debate with many different views on the subject. Best of luck,...

Does cold weather effect lenses?

People,

I have noticed that my wear time has down been down during this cold weather.

Am I imagining it or could it have an influence?

Cheers,

Piggy Backing Pro's and con's

I have today been for an appointment at the hospital clinic and would appreciate some feedback. I have been using flexi Edge lenses ( hybri type ) in both eyes, but in the right eye ( my good one ) we cant seem to get a good enough fit and my lower eye lid is lifting the soft skirt. It has now been ...
