My son no longer needs a corneal transplant

We were encouraged to get a second opinion (in fact we got three). Last week Ben was tried with a sclerel lens and will have his fitted in Augus...

In fact we got three. First Ben was told a corneal transplant was the only option as his KC was so adv...

Is corneal ectasia the same as KTC?
My son Ben was diagnosed as having KTC and was told he needed a transplant. I have had a letter back from his consultant saying that he diagnosed Ben as having 'corneal ectasia', no mention of KTC. Is this the same as KTC?

Re: KC so advanced so quickly!
Just thought I'd update you. On Tuesday Ben has got an appointment with a surgeon and opthalmologist at Optegra Eyecare in Guilford and on Tuesday 14th May we are seeing David Jory in Harley Street. Fingers crossed Ben will be offered an alternative to a corneal transplant.

Re: KC so advanced so quickly!

Re: KC so advanced so quickly!
There was no mention of hydrops. Ben doesn't have pain in his eye, it feels like it has something in it.
I will find out more about it though as it is a possilbility.

Re: jobs in the army and services
First of all can I just say just how impressed I am with the forums. I’m amazed at how much advice and support is given and so quickly. Only about 6 months ago Ben was being shown how to hold and use a gun, as he is in the process of joining the army. He was using his right eye and had no problems a...

Re: KC so advanced so quickly!
We were told that lenses are not an option because of the extent of distortion to the cornea. I have not stopped researching possibilities. I am looking into crosslinking and intacs as apparently this can reduce the dome of the cornea and restore vision. Has anyone had this treatment when in advance...
