Re: Mini A.R.K.
Hi Harker, However, I think you're being almost willfully ignorant about how science works. You talk as if the patients behind the research papers you dismiss in favour of anecdotal evidence are somehow less real than those you find yourself. I freely admit to being 'ignorant about how science works...

Re: Mini A.R.K.
Hi Brigitte, As you can see from the sparse contributions to this string ARK and mini-ARK are not too common as treatments for keratoconus. There was a time when this was very much not the case... There was a lot of debate (mostly very heated) but very little forward momentum. I now (with the benefi...

Re: Beta Spectrin
I thought this was of further interest as it seems there has already been discussion as to the possibility of corneal nerves having direct effect on keratoconus progression. The article does not discuss beta spectrin but is it not possible that (if it is indeed present) this particular proteins abse...

Beta Spectrin
Hi, I may be way off track here (science is not my strong point) but does anyone out there know if the protein 'Beta Spectrin' is present in corneal nerve cells? I only ask this after reading a recent article that has discovered that the absence of the protein may be the cause for general nerve fibe...

Re: Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment for KC
Hi Matthew, I have had a couple of replies from people in Rome who know directly of this doctor and his work. Lets just say that going by what they said I would investigate 'fully' this option before proceeding. Obviously no snap judgement can be made by just two replies... and of course it is alway...

Re: can contact lenses prevent further damage
Hi rkhan19, I'm afraid that RGP's do not in any way prevent keratoconus from progressing. There was a time when general information about this was quite confusing (I remember people posting on forums that had been told by their respective opticians that hard lenses stopped or even cured Keratoconus!...

Re: Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment for KC
Hi Matthew, No I think you are right... its not at all specific to keratoconus. The only link is the use of Hyperbaric O2 treatment in association with eye treatment (It was just something I came across after a quick internet search :)). By the way I have sent a few inquires about the procedure to R...

Re: Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment for KC
I'm just on my way out but I did a quick check and found this study... but this particular study speaks to refractive changes following hyperbaric treatment... Refractive change during hyperbaric oxygen therapy. A clinical trial including ultrasound oculometry. Acta Ophthalmologica Scandinavica. 80(...

Re: I have special powers!
Hi Craig, I like your attitude :) The way you are dealing with your recent setback and moving forward with a cool sence of humor... but just one thing though, not sure exactly if there is a universal need for **Ultra Violet Man**... not exactly the most practical of super heroes :) Let us know how y...
