Re: Politics and ophthalmic patients

I benefitted from Access to Work when I lost my sight. Along with my employer, they equipped my workspace with all sorts of aids: video reader, talking computer etc. It is sad that people, in the future, will not have this sort of help. There may be people forced into unemployment who, in my time, w...

Re: FEMTOSECOND DALK

I guess you are asking whether FSDalk is worth £13798 more than two operations on the NHS. Well, it isn't my money so I really cannot answer that question. I think I'd be inclined to ask an NHS ophthalmologist before forming my final judgement.

Re: I V R FUND

Hello and welcome to the forum. FSDalk is a partial thickness corneal graft, but instead of using conventional cutting instruments the surgeon uses an Intralase femtosecond laser. I'm afraid that I have no experience of this cutting method, but I am sure that there will be somebody along in a moment...

Re: A question for anyone that's had a graft...

Prior to my first graft, I was legally blind. I deliberately waited until I had no useful sight to lose before risking a graft. I do not regret that decision, but if I had known then what I know now, I should probably have accepted earlier offers of surgery. All the best. These decisions are never e...

Re: New member with a question

Hello John There was a time in Scotland when GP's made referrals to ophthalmologists, and I think that this route is probably still open. That said, in this jurisdiction, optometrists make faster and more direct referrals to ophthalmology departments in NHS hospitals. I am afraid I do not know wheth...

Re: Charge for Soft Contact Lenses

I've probably not been paying as much attention as I ought, but I have never heard of anyone being charged separately for the soft lenses used beneath RHP's in a piggy back system.

Re: Surgery or not to have surgery?

I delayed my corneal grafts until I was legally blind. Once I decided to accept the procedure, I was happy with the outcome and regretted neither the decision to delay nor the decision to go ahead.

Re: KC Group Survey

Still not working on my Safari platform. I tried on Firefox, but no luck there either. I can see the security question and I can calculate the answer but there seems to be no way to enter the answer. Later Edit: It's okay, I have found the 'answer field'. The problem I had was that on the Apple MacI...

Re: KC Group Survey

John, I was whiling away some time over lunch between morning and afternoon clinics and thought I'd have a go at the survey. Unfortunately the security question defeated me. The problem was that I couldn't activate the field to enter the answer to the arithmetical question (that's my story and I am ...
