Re: Private or NHS for Contact Lenses
I am not sure why anyone would wait 4 weeks for a replacement lens? What type of lens is it? Some of the soft lenses or hybrid lenses can take some time. Most RGP lenses should be available in around 1 week. I ordered a -17.00 special KC design lens from Jack Allen Contact Lenses recently and it arr...

Re: anti aging eye creams?
I am almost embarrased to admit it but I have used eye creams in the last few days! I was given some freebie Clinique for men samples when buying something for my wife. i do not have KC but do suffer from hayfever and do get the symptoms in my eyes. However I have been able to use the Clinique cream...

Re: Private or NHS for Contact Lenses
You need to decide for yourself what you feel is better for you. What would the difference be between being private and NHS at the same practice? Cost diff? Appt time difference? Lens availability options? This whole contracting out thing really is a nonsense. But thats another question altogeather!...

Re: advice needed on which treatment to have

As Lynn says prices vary considerably depending on the specific lens fitted and also wheather it is done privately or through the...

Re: RGP Lens Movement
I agree with Andrew. Minor adjustments are often required in ALL RGP fittings and even more likely in ther case of a KC fitting. I would however say not to wait too long before returning as it is easier to exchange lenses within a short period of time of the original fitting.

Re: Contact lens for tigers!
We had a Vet Ophthalmologist talk to the Scottish Contact Lens Society some years ago. She spoke of fitting contact lenses as bandage lenses to cats, dogs and even lions and tigers! She did mention that slit lamp examination was rather tricky and best carried out with a pair of binoculars!

Re: End of Piggy Backing :(
Hi Claire Sorry to hear you have been advised to stop piggy backing. Obviously I have not examined your cornea and cannot comment on the specifics. However with the availability of modern highly permeable silicone hydrogel lenses such a lack of oxygen neednt be a problem.Such lenses are available fo...

Re: eye drops - help
I have some samples of the Clinitas range which arrived too late to be distributed at the conference. If anyone would like to send me a PM I can arrange to send some samples to anyone interested.

Re: CXL and age
Whilst there is no specific age cut off it is generally regarded that the progression of KC is slower and less aggressive in the older population. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule and as we said on Saturday at the conference -with KC the rule is that there are no rules! However I wou...
