Re: New (son has Keratoconus)

With regards to an "expiry date" for a transplant (or also known as a graft), any average quoted or even any number quoted is just that and nothing more, no one can predict how long survival will be for anyone person with any accuracy. So you will get those who do very well out of it and t...

Re: New (son has Keratoconus)

Annie,

If your son feels that its getting harder to see by the day, has the progression of his KC been recorded ? and if its shown to be progressing have you thought about the CXL treatment ?

For your son I would get a second opinion from a private consultant (an Eye Dr)

Best of luck

Re: Glasses

Not if its a "complex prescription" you get a voucher if it is, you just pay for the frames you like, and if its NHS ones you like, that's free. By the way I'm no expert on this, ask around different opticians to know more on this topic or someone else may chime in here.

There is two componants to vision I find: 1) One is quality in Vision 2) The other is quantity of vision Both can vary, even from one test room, to another test room in another place ! On brighter days y...

Re: 2008 Diary of Crosslinking (cxl/ccl) treatment!

If you can get out of having medical contact lenses, that is a great result or even getting some of your uncorrected vision back so you can get them in easier ! :D My story will be too long, too upsetting to tell here if i made a start on it and if I just only made a start on it, it would not do any...

Re: 2008 Diary of Crosslinking (cxl/ccl) treatment!

The thing about Intacs (and its only my view) is that it works better in getting the cornea back to a better shape in the milder cases of KC more than in advance cases, but do you want to have an invasive surgery like Intacs where you most probably would get on fine with glasses or contacts in the m...

Re: KC Treatment?

You took the words out of my mouth there Anne, and most of ours I'm sure ! Admirc your in a good situation, you can get a Corneal Topography done as you wish regularly to monitor your KC (there may not be no progression ever from where you are now) before any outward signs of KC start appearing and ...
