I am very sad to report that our meeting venue in John Lewis Birmingham will no longer be available to us following the Company announcement yesterday which you may have seen. I have now had the following formal communication: “John Lewis & Partners Birmingham is not reopening following the temp...

Re: 25th April Meeting Postponed

Hi Evergreenf1, sorry for delay in replying. The West Midlands Group has been active for many years and there are posters and leaflets in most hospitals, which one do you attend? You will be very welcome when we get back to holding meetings again but right now it's not clear when the venue will be o...

25th April Meeting Postponed

Our first meeting of the year should have been on 25th April but, because of the national situation, it will not now go ahead. The speaker, Professor Rubinstein, has kindly offered to come instead for our next scheduled meeting on Saturday 25th July - if we are operational by then. It is obviously i...

12th October 2019 Meeting

The last meeting of the year had 21 people listen to a fascinating and inspiring talk by Ash Winter who has done some amazing things despite KC. He is currently fund raising for Fight for Sight and is available for talks about KC if anyone else is interested. To find out more about his latest challe...

Re: Scleral wearers - Which saline do you use? - POLL

For what it's worth, I've worn mini-scleras for several years and never used a plunger; they almost always come out easily by pushing the eyelids together in the same way micro rgps used to be removed, be interested to know how many others do this. John

Reminder of Final Meeting of 2019

We will be meeting on Saturday 12th October at 11:00am in John Lewis above New Street Station, Birmingham as usual for a talk entitled 'Keratoconus and Me' by Ash Winter which should be fascinating; many members heard Ash give a quick preview earlier this year and it generated a lot of interest. Ash...

Dates for your Diary

First of all, many thanks to the 27 people that came to the 10th August meeting, a very good turn out for the holiday period. It was also good to see several new faces and, judging by the discussions that went on after the meeting, it was a very useful event. Our third and final meeting of 2019 will...

Change of Speaker for Next Meeting (10th August)

Unfortunately, owing to problems with delayed house moves, our next speaker (Professor Martin Rubinstein) has had to postpone his talk until next year and hopes to make it for our spring meeting. Instead, I will speak about sighted guiding and the 'My Guide' service offered by Guide Dogs; something ...

2019 Meetings

A big thank you to the 32 people that came to the 11th March meeting and especially to Denise McCormick, our speaker, who gave much useful information and generated a lot of discussion. We also had a brief but interesting summary of the personal account of someone affected by KC who has self-publish...
