Re: Piggy backing - a sincere recommendation

Hi Gerard, no I don't notice any draw backs really. I guess the only issue is that if the lens underneath gets dirty (does tend to happen in hayfever season), then I have to take them both out to clean. So just a bit more faff, plus an extra set of lenses to clean in the morning. But it's a small pr...

Piggy backing - a sincere recommendation

I was diagnosed with KC about 8 years ago now, with fairly minor progression. I was able to continue using soft lenses for a number of years before my vision deteriorated to the point where I needed RGP's. When I got them, I was able to tolerate them fairly well, and I was soon wearing them for abou...

Re: eye drops - help

I use clarimist when i am out and about as it is much easier to apply and gives a refreshing sensation. I use various other eye drops when I am in though. Clarimist is very expensive though, but i use it quite sparingly

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

Thanks for all your help guys, I spoke to the consultant who confirmed that it would be a fair while before i could wear rgps. I decided to postpone the surgery until next summer, and i will be going back to have a couple of consultations in the mean time.

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

The i have actually been going without a lens in one eye (wearing a soft lens instead of an rgp) for the last week as i managed to break one of them and it hasn't been good to be honest. I find that i prefer to have bad vision in both than to have totally unbalanced eyes. The problem is that i am at...

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

Hmm, i might have to seriously consider whether or not to get this done this summer or put it off for a while. I was not told that it was such a long recovery time before now, i was given the impression that it was like 1-2 weeks. I have made plans to do stuff this summer and not being able to wear ...

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

Thanks, it's not the actual operation that I'm worried about. It's the recovery time. I really want to be able to wear rgps within at least a month after the op. But i don't think this is possible. I have also heard that looking at a computer screen can be very difficult months afterwards, and i do ...

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

Thanks, I may try the Kerasoft 3 lenses then. I do however, get very good vision with RGPs and i can wear them all day everyday pretty comfortably. Wind and dust is the only problem. I only passed my test 18 months ago, so i feel like a pretty safe driver, just not with one eye. I don't think any mo...

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

Thanks for the reply, i have tried kerasoft lenses before and the vision was pretty rubbish. Im feeling worried about this op now because i have just got a decent prescription with RGP lenses after 2 years of trying, and i don't want to jepordise it.

Re: Collagen cross linking questions

Does anyone have any personal experience on how long it took them? I think i would be legal to drive, but wether or not i would be comfortable to is a different thing. I really just want to know what the average recovery time is to getting a reasonable amount of vision back and wearing rgp lenses. A...
