Re: advise on corneal transplant

Ruralrob, I recently had a corneal graft done in my left eye (11/11/09). Since the scarring in my eye was quite bad I had no option other than to go for the full graft. So far the pain has been minimal & the only problem Ive had is a bit of dryness ( the cornea has been stitched in quite tight s...

Re: Fundraising

Kitty Kat - I havent seen the show myself but I have heard from people I work with about the gentleman that was featured. We need something like that to get the exposure of the group out to the wider population. Im sure that there must be some people out there who are just diagnosed with KCand dont ...

Re: Germany

Kitty Kat - I know what you mean about the Christmas market - I always love going to the wee refreshment area that they have set up @ the back of the market. You just cant beat that German beer. Andrew - thanks for that translation - It will come in handy in the future. A couple of the guys I work w...

Re: Fundraising

Mike, that is a good total of gift aid that we have benefitted from. Slightly off topic but what we need is for one of those telly medical programmes to show someone with keratoconus ( as they have done almost everything else our turn must be soon) being advised about the group. This will be the bes...

Re: Hello & Help Required

Folks, the visit to the hospital went well this afternoon. The doctors are still happy with the graft. The middle of the cornea is slightly dry ( it would appear that this is a result of the graft being put in quite tight) so Ive been prescribed Lacri Lube Eye Ointment which needs to go in 2 to 4 ti...

Re: Hello & Help Required

Thanks for that Anne. Im hoping that it is just a cause of acute dry eye so I can get some soothing drops from them or get some advice on what to buy from the chemist. My optician advised me that I had a touch of Blepharitis in the past. I wonder if it has come back with a vengeance ( I suffer a bit...

Re: Next Scottish group meeting Guide dogs for the Blind

Although I stay in Livingston which is only 30 miles away from Glasgow getting there by public transport ( I dont drive) is a c...

Re: cant handle my contacts anymore

Mabs - Im sorry to hear about your experience. I know where you are coming from as I could never handle the RGP's that I had to wear initially. Ive currently got a SynergEyes hybrid lens for my right eye which is a bit better (saying that @ times my eye cant cope with that). Im lucky in that Im stil...

Re: Fundraising

Matt, thanks for the reply. I wasnt aware that Christmas Cards or other promo goods dont raise that much money after expenses have been taken into account. I totally agree that donations is the most effective way of raising money. We have to take advantage of gift aid as much as we can. Cheers Greig
