Re: Back to the operating table

I too hope that all went well. The amniotic membrane graft, although a bit gory on youtube, is a dead easy operation from a technical point of view. At least, that's what the docs told me. Five weeks ago, I had a pytergoid removed with an amniotic membrane graft (to help healing and prevent pterygoi...

In 2006, we increased from 900 to about 1100 members - mostly patients. Currently, we have about 1250; although much of the increase are optometrists. Impressive! In our group there are only some 400 paid-up members and 870 on the discussion forum. Have you got a formal scientific committee compose...

Will this be invite only? Ticket based? etc? It's all a bit loosey-goosey for the time being but it will become clearer in the next few months as we find out how many countries are involved. We are contacting both well-structured associations (like yours) and also forum moderators in countries wher...

You're undoubtedly right, Gareth.
I wonder if the delay is due to regulatory hurdles or to difficulty in keeping up with the demand in the States.

My contact lens fitter here in France told me recently that the Synergeyes people had decided to postpone marketing their lens in Europe for the time being.
Any news of when they might be available in the U.K.?

But while many operations are successful, there is a 25% chance that the graft will be rejected or fail within five years. This prompted British scientists to look for new ways to restore sight." Hi Sajeev, It's surprising how many different figures are bandied about. Here's what kcenter.org has to...

Re: Is there such thing as 'remission'?

What is weird now is that my 'K' has stabalised for the last 5yrs ... One of the great things :? about KC is that you never know how it's going to develop. Many people talk about "plateaux" where it seems to stabilize for some time, maybe years, maybe forever :?: in some cases, before getting worse...

I got them some years ago from a booklet the NKCF put out. Unfortunately, I lent it out and it never came back. :(

Re: KCed but not KOed !!

my doc freaked me out - said i would need a transplant in a coupla years !! If I were you, I'd get a second opinion. Lots of doctors think that KC = graft, but only 10% of KC patients are grafted. And, in the vast majority of cases (over 90%), the graft is a successl. 90% of us get by quite well wi...

my specialist gave me preservative free drops as she thinks I might have had a reaction to the preservative in the ointment. What drops were they, Darren? I find that artificial tears don't last very long and my eyes are as dry as ever after afew minutes. I am using Refresh single dose drops from A...
