Re: crosslinking

Hello Linzi, I had crosslinking done on my eyes about 6 months ago and this was done with the epithelium (top layer of cells on cornea) being removed. I am no expert but the general view seems to be that by not removing the epithelium the riboflavin drops do not absorb properly, thus making the trea...

Re: Side effects of crosslinking

Hello Tim, I know one or two private clinics that do undertake the C3R procedure on under 18s so this might be each individual clinics own decision rather then a general rule. I had my eye treated at the London Centre for Refractive Surgery. If you can get the treatment on the trial it will save you...

Re: Side effects of crosslinking

Hello Kirsty, I rarely post on the forum as I don't have a vast amount of knowledge about KC . But I have done quite alot of research on C3R as I had the treatment myself on my right eye just over two weeks ago. To answer your question regarding the side effects I will copy below what was stated in ...

Re: C3R Consultation

Andrew I don't have cataracts so Helen must be right in that the lens implants are used to correct high levels of astigmatism. Helen you probably have more knowledge on this then me as I didn't get time to discuss it with Mr.Jory. I was wondering if after having the lens implants if I would still ne...

C3R Consultation

Hello All, Yesterday I visited the London Centre for Refractive Surgery (LCRS) for a C3R consultation. I thought I would fill you in on how it went and let you know about a few things I found quite interesting. Just to give you a brief description of my KC. I have had it for approx 3 years and it ha...

Piper at the moment without spectacles I cant read anything on my pc. With my specs on I still don't get adequate vision, however when vision is not crucial I prefer to have the comfort of my specs. Night vision is bad especially around lights where I get halos and glare from car head lamps. I am st...

Different stages of KC

I have often heard or read of people referring to different stages of KC, however I don't know what they mean. I was hoping someone could fill me in on how many stages there are and what the criteria is for each stage.

Lynn I understand where your coming from. It's just that you feel frustrated when it seems like other people are not doing as much as they could. Then again you will never know how if feels to have KC, or any other problem unless you have it yourself! Anyway I had another question. Previously I ment...

Help at uni..

I was wondering if students with KC are entitled to any help whilst studying at uni. I have a friend who has dyslexia and is given a laptop, dictaphone etc and extra time in exams. I am currently at uni and as all assignments must be word processed I spend most my time in front of a computer screen....
