Stitch removal post graft
Most of this discussion invoves having 'individual' stitches removed. I understood my graft to be done using a 'continuous' stitching. Does anyone know if this is removed all together (omg) or am I just confused? Please help! Dear Val, I had one continuous stitch removed in one go at six months pos...

Time waiting for donor cornea
Hi all, I had to wait only a six weeks - mostly because we had to find a date in the surgeon's diary, and a space in theatre. I understand that the donor corneas can be kept for six weeks, but because tissue matching is not an issue the stock can be used for almost anyone. I had mine several years a...

Being told i need a graft
Karl I agree with Susan and jayuk - definitely try the different lenses on offer - things have changed a lot in lens technology. It will take some time though - so be prepared for a trial and error series of visits as they get the fit right and the prescription. I only went to a graft because I coul...

about to have a graft
How long is the average wait? We made the final decision to have a graft in Jan and I had my op in early April. I was told that there would be not wait for the donor graft but rather I might have to wait until a slot was available in theatre. How much time will I need to take off work bearing in min...

Corneal Graft
Hi I had a graft in April 2001 and have no regrets. As a previous message says it is a very personal choice and our circumstances vary a great deal. 1. I could not return to work until I could read quickly and easily, and more importantly drive myself. I live in a rural area and teach at a rural sch...

Nice one Crompo, I agree. It takes time, but thank God there are some clever solutions out there for most of us. You just have to persevere and find the right mix for yourself. I was also heartend to hear of your 20 year graft. I did hear of a 35 year old one, on an American website! My graft is muc...

Sunlight
Dealing with bright light or sunlight is hard for those of us with KC. I have spent a lot of money on sunglasses but I have never regretted it. Initially I wore hard lenses and coped with bright lights by wearing a pair of sport sunglasses by Bolle. They are wrap around but have inter-changeable len...

KC and coughs and colds
Dear all, It is a long time since I have posted. I have been lurking for a bit so I have some idea of the news. I wonder if others have eyes that are affected by coughs and colds? I have the bug that is doing the rounds and was alarmed to discover I had sore and tear-ing eyes yesterday evening, and ...
