Re: Some advice needed
Lulu, Hi, glad to see you are trying to inform yourself, thats why I come on here too, my H has the condition. Like your son he was diagnosed in his teens. I just wanted to share my own experience with you, I didn't realise what an impact it had on things until my H got angry and frustrated, I didn'...

do you use your other senses more?
Just curious as I tend to use touch etc for things I cannot see, or even manage to do more than one thing at once by doing things by touch.
have you found you use other senses more due to lack of sight or are you very reliant on sight?

When should there be improvement if any?
Just thought I would ask as my husband is now 6 months post-op. Full graft. The consultant still can't get a satisfactory reading or provide a prescription for his grafted eye. Is this likely to change once the stitches are removed? For better or worse? As his vision stands at the moment he doesn't ...

I thought I might add some remarks of my own about provate care as my husband had his graft performed privately although not at the Moorefields. As he was on a general private ward post -op the nurses didn't actually have much experience of eye operations and had to keep referring to the eye ward. S...

For Joanne with toddler
Jo, Whilst I haven't got KC I have a H who has and a toddler. You know what the op is like so know you will need help etc and what to avoid, I've thought of some tips for toddler managing since my H saw your post. I don't know how old the toddler is or how heavy. H avoided all lifting and boisterous...

Happy New Year Sophie and Cornelia! I hope you may be able to help. My H had his graft this week and is so far trying to keep +ve but is getting demoralised as it seems no better than before yet. He has rapidly advancing KC in the non-grafted eye hence the decision to do the 'bad' eye. He ended up h...

Thanks Sue and Gareth, Would it offend anyone to be told to 'consider their choices'? H was in tears last night after a pretty good period. Its a month to go and he says the other eye is deterioating rapidly, more noticeable as he has nothing to fall back on. He can read but has double vision on lig...

Gareth et al, I wish my H could be as +ve as the people I've seen on here. He swings from one mood to another so much it is hard to deal with and know what to say for the best. Most of the time I say nothing as I don't know what to say when he starts being pessimistic. Does everyone else experience ...

Thanks for the help - I'm loathe to show my H this forum after reading about Hydrops myself. DOn't know if he has ever had that. He has a date now and seems more comfortable with it. The tip about computers I use myself as I find standard Windows layouts far too small for me and so dull! He is worri...
