Re: Eyelid drooping

Hi,
Just an update- went to see my consultant today and he said that he'd refer me to oculoplastics after all my stitches have been removed at about 18 months post graft, very glad to hear that he has a plan!

Re: Eyelid drooping

Although steroids can cause some muscle weakening I highly doubt this is what happened to me as my eyelid has been like this since I woke up from the operation- from internet research I think the condition is called ptosis? Apparently people who wear contacts for a number of years can develop it fro...

Eyelid drooping

Hi everyone! Been quite a while since I posted and since then I have had a cornea graft which is almost 6 months old now :) Everything's going well with the graft but since the operation I've been left with a droopy eyelid which is leaving me looking quite uneven and sleepy-looking! Initially I thou...

Re: 48 hours without contacts in - How life is different

I persevere because the way i see it, the alternative is giving up and doing nothing, which is definately not an option. I guess i've adapted? Blind and partially people have to get around day to day and i suppose i'm no different. I just have to be prepared to fall down and walk into things from ti...

Re: 48 hours without contacts in - How life is different

I wore lenses for 4 years but havnt been able to for the last few due to allergies and dry eyes, so I've been left to manage with 6/60 vision! Finally got my consultant to agree a cornea graft for next year though, so things are looking up! :D

Re: 48 hours without contacts in - How life is different

Try being without contacts for three years! I don't think people realise the day to day problems- trying not to get run over, telling male and female public toilets apart, properly understanding conversations without seeing the other person's facial expressions, being asked by little old ladies what...

Re: CXL for son - right thing to do?

Hi, Me and my brother both had CXL about 3 years ago when i was 13 and he was 17. In my case the aim was to stop very bad eyesight from deteriorating further but for my brother the aim was to keep his vision at a good level. Since the procedure our vision has remained stable and it was definitely no...
