Re: *New Member* - CXL in Good Eye

Hi Ross, I can relate a wee bit, I have a fair difference between my left and right though not as extreme a difference as yours. When I had my good eye done, it was six weeks after my bad one. Recovery rate was pretty quick, I was able to see well after a day and about three for full vision, where t...

Glad to hear it seems to be going better now. Fingers crossed it keeps progressing well.

Re: Crosslinking local or general anesthetic??

It was my good eye second time round, I’m not sure why it was better, possibly because I knew what to expect but possibly because it’s in much better shape than the left. I personally don’t think it’s worth the risk of being anaesthetised but it’s a judgement call. If there’s any pain after the op i...

Re: Crosslinking local or general anesthetic??

It was worse in my left eye which was my bad eye and the first to get done. I won’t lie, it was pretty sore for about 36 hours after which it slowly got better in terms of pain, by the third day after it was fine other than a little gritty. I couldn’t effectively see out of that eye for about 24 hou...

Re: Crosslinking local or general anesthetic??

Mine was just done by numbing drops. It wasn’t at all painful during the procedure, I found having the eyes clamped open the most uncomfortable but even that wasn’t too much of a problem. It’s more getting over the squeamishness that’s the problem for me but I somehow managed to steel myself for it....

Re: Occupational Health and KC

I had to go through occupational health last year and it was a mixed bag. On the whole, they genuinely wanted to help me get back to work (I’m a professional driver!) and they helped get me light duties in the office. On the flip side, they had absolutely no idea about the condition and I feel I cou...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Hi Sophia, Welcome to the group! Sorry to hear that the CXL didn't work, I'm lucky mine did though it hasn't corrected anything (well an extremely minor improvement is all) but it doesn't seem to be progressing. I'm interested in how you get on with intacs, it's something I'm looking at exploring as...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Hi, Just read the post. I'm maybe a little older than your son (I'm 34) but I was diagnosed with the condition last year and have a good and bad eye though both have KC in them, it's just more pronounced in my left (in my right, I bizarrely have almost perfect vision except for starbursts at night)....

Re: KC Newbie here

Welcome! Everybody has a different experience and thankfully my CXL worked but I know how bad the degradation in vision feels. My job involves a lot of driving and losing that became a genuine fear (I love my job). I've been given a hybrid lens for my left eye but I'll need to get used to it before ...
