Re: Grafts - good experiences?

How did recovery go overall? It was good. Within 2-3 days I already could see 20/20 close-up, and a little bit blurry for distance. No complications occured. After 2-3 years I was told to stop taking medications. When did you feel you were in a better place than before surgery? Within 2-3 days, as I...

Re: DriveSafe glasses

Dear pbsiakht, Most Keratoconus patients suffer from the GASH (Glare, Arcs, Streaks, Halos) symptoms, this is a side effect of having an irregular cornea. To combat those annoying symptoms, most patients try to fix or reduce them via surgical or contact lenses methods. If the treatments weren't enou...

Re: Assistance to function at work

Dear Claire, Like Anna said, as we age and due to UV exposure, the cornea becomes stronger and the keratoconus stops progressing. That's around the age of 40, so it's very likely that in your case it's halted. However, everybody is difference, and for some the disease stops very early, and in other ...

Re: Intacs AFTER corneal grafts - is it possible?, does it work?

Dear Andrew, An intrastromal corneal ring segment (e.g. Intacs) can be inserted post graft. As far as I'm concerned and as stated by Anna, any invasive surgery post graft might cause rejection, due to inflammation of the cornea. Rare occurrence, but happens. As to whether or not you can have Intacs ...

Re: Assistance to function at work

Dear Claire, If RGP's are too of a hassle for long-term use for you, then you might want to try with your optometrist other types of contact lenses for special circumstances, such as extensive long-term use. I have heard wonders of Kerasoft IC, and other options, although you might have to trade vis...

There are many forum members located Hungary. You can use the "search" section to find information from Hungary. You may as well try to search and check with other patients located in your country, as I'm pretty sure both CXL and ring segments are widespread today, including in Hungary.

Re: Epi-off CXL a while ago, vision in left eye worse than it was. Please help.

Dear sir, The GASH (glare, arcing, starbursts and halos) visual complications of keratoconus are horrible! First off, remind yourself that you are only in the early recovery phase of CXL, so they should diminish partially over time. If post-healing the GASH are still severe, then you should discuss ...

Dear aquana, I feel your pain; I went though it myself. Of all 4 surgeries I had, cross-linking was the worst in regards to pain! It was so painful for 2-3 days I think, although my memory is not strong as it's been almost 5 years. In fact, cross-linking was the only treatment where I felt pain, so ...

Re: Keratoconus intacts surgery. Advice please!

Dear sir, I also am intolerant of contact lenses, with very bad side effects (e.g. binocular double vision, cloudy blurry vision, photophobia, eye strain, ghosting/starbursts, dry red eyes, contacts stuck to the eye). Even spectacles cause me some double vision/eye strain (accommodation issues), but...
