Re: My surgery at Lombardi Eye Clinic

3 weeks after the surgery - I don't feel pain anymore, but I have a moderate photophobia on left eye (I use 1-3 pairs of sunglasses outside :)) and rarely this eye pours a few tears. The vision on left eye is better than before, but I believe it's not as good as it was in glasses. I can read with th...

My surgery at Lombardi Eye Clinic

At first - I am not native, so pardon me for any mistakes :) I have undergone a surgery at Lombardi Eye Clinic 7 days ago. As it is quite hard to find info from dr Lombardi's patients I would like to write a few words. On the left eye: I had a KC of I-II degree. My scores 1 month prior to surgery: s...

Re: Prof. Massimo Lombardi and his Mini A.S.R.K. method

Well, I live in Poland not Italy and still could attend visit in Rome. ;) But You've got a point - there only one man in the world who does this method. I am also very sceptical about fungal infection - so much, that it actually holds me from deciding on the operation. But - prof. Lombardi seems to ...

Re: Prof. Massimo Lombardi and his Mini A.S.R.K. method

OK, I have visited prof. Lombardi and have some more information. In professor's opinion the keratoconus is caused by a fungus - a parasite which destroys bridges between collagen structures. That results in degradation of whole cornea structure and it's conus. So the method of therapy is: 1. Kill t...

Re: Prof. Massimo Lombardi and his Mini A.S.R.K. method

It is quite awkward, that this method isn't more common. At least potentially it really can improve visus to 20/20 (which most of transplants can't) and doesn't prevent future operations on the eye. The only thing is it won't stop the Keratoconus itself (I think so), but can be conducted with cross-...

Prof. Massimo Lombardi and his Mini A.S.R.K. method

I am interested in microsurgery method called Mini A.S.R.K. (stands for Mini Asymmetric Selective Radial Keratotomy). It is conducted only by prof. Massimo Lombardi - he has a clinic in Rome, Italy. I was wandering if anybody on this forum had undergone this kind of surgery? I would like to know wha...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Hi everyone! I am a KC patient - my illness was diagnosed in 2004. Both eye balls were affected, but I underwent a corneal transplantation 4 years ago (right eye was operated, only superficial layer of cornea was replaced). Right now I wear only glasses - with this correction visus isn't perfect, bu...
