Re: Moorfields referral

As far as I know, you can either ask your Sidcup consultant to refer you, or do it through your GP. Though I suspect all hospitals are still struggling with COVID backlogs so you might have a wait to be seen. And it might be worth contacting PALS at Sidcup about the problems you're having there to ...

Moorfields referral

Hi All Does anyone know the process of requesting a transfer/ referral to Moorfields eye hospital? I'm currently seen at Queen Mary's Sidcup, formerly Princess Royal. I've been having a lot of problems being seen. Then when I am seen, not getting sent the lenses. I requested a new replacement lens a...

Re: Cross Linking both eyes question

I had CXL done in September last year and wouldn't personally recommend having both eyes done concurrently. The first 2 days in particular were very painful and I had issues with light sensitivity. I had some anaesthetic drops to help with the pain. I could only use one eye for sight for 6 weeks whi...

Lenses clouding up

Hello I've started using new lenses - mini sclerals. I've found them to be reasonable comfortable and they provide me with good sight. However, I'm having issues with the left lens clouding up/ hazing up after a few hours wear - with the vision becoming how the windows become in the mornings in wint...

Re: Has anyone had keratoconus progress in one eye after the age of 30?

Hi Yes, I have been in this situation. My right eye used to be the 'better' of my 2 eyes in terms of the quality of sight I got out of that eye. Over the past 4-5 years that changed and my left eye became the better of the 2. Its resulted in me getting an increasing frequency in headaches. The condi...

Re: Dry eyes

Hello I use a mixture of Systane Ultra eye drops (preservative free) + Xailin gel. I suffer from extreme dryness with my eyes, particularly when I wear my semi sclerals. I also wear the Kerasofts. I started using flaxseed oil (in tablet form) about a year ago and have found its has helped with the d...

Re: CXL - Advice sought

It is a very tough choice and the exact same one I had to make! I had previously had CXL in my bad eye, and it went well. Then I was stuck thinking about whether to go for it with my good eye... ultimately I thought, I want to keep my good vision, so yes let's go for it. Bad choice. Precedure had c...

CXL - Advice sought

Hello I'm still able to get good sight with contact lenses. At my annual review today with my consultant, he said that my right eye has gradually been getting worse. He recommended I have cross linking to halt the progression. We discussed this years ago, but he had said then that he needed to see c...

Occupational Health and KC

Hello Does anyone have any experience of dealing with occupational health in the workplace in terms of helping managing the condition and its effects on your work? I recently saw the corneal consultant at the hospital where I’m treated for my keratoconus. The consultant said that my condition has de...

Re: Difficulty with right eye vision

Thanks Lia and Anne

I tried leaving out the lens for a day. But need to see again today, so had to put it in.
