Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

Thanks for all the advice. After switching to storing them in soft solution and rinsing them in this "sensitive" saline they are much more comfortable.

I just hope it continues.

Re: Just told I have KC!

I don't know where in Britain you are, but find yourself a local optician who knows a lot about contact lenses and has equipment that will do a topographical scan of your eye. The guys in Vision Express probably don't have the equipment or experience to deal with something like this properly. There'...

Re: so deprerssed

I guess if potential partners do make a fuss, you could just tell them that they should be thankful.

"It's like permanent beer-goggles and you wouldn't touch them with a bargepole otherwise" should do the trick!

Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

I use general moisturising eye drops and hypromellose from the pharmacy. I use celluvisc aswell which is preservative free. I like hypromellose in particular. I keep them in the fridge and drench my eyes in them if they feel irritated :-) Hypromellose drops sound good. Daft question... Are they all...

Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

Thanks for all the other replies.

I will try storing the lenses in the Renu solution for now, and I have bought some eye drops and "sensitive" saline. I'll post some updates after I've tried these.

Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

tremtastic, Just wondered, but how long each day are you wearing your lenses? All lenses need time to build up wearing tolerances - but because the vision is so good compared with glasses there is a temptation to over wear the lenses. Maybe just reducing the wear time slightly could help. As you ar...

Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

I also wondered if any eye drops would help, but I've no idea what to choose since they're not the standard rigid or soft lenses.

Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

I've been wearing them for about 3.5 weeks. I want to persevere with them because the vision is really good and I'm quite liking not hiding behind glasses. Just trying to make them as comfortable as possible. They have been less comfortable over the past week than at first, so it might be down to th...

Re: Lens Newbie needs Solution Advice

Thanks for the replies. At the moment, I'm rubbing and storing in the Menicare stuff (which I think is an RGP solution). Then I'm rinsing with the saline before putting in. I have a bottle of Bausch Renu soft lens solution (given to me because of the free case). Can I just try that for a while inste...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Just wanted to introduce myself as a contact lens newbie after coping with KC and glasses for the past 10-ish years. Reading this board has been really useful and your lists put me in touch with a useful optician specialising in contact lenses. :)
