Re: kerasoft ic or rgp

Might be worth getting your GP to refer you to your local hospital optometry department? Kerasoft I believe are different to fit than rgp so the optician will probably need training and need more than one person to want them..... You could also email ultra vision to find an optician nearest you that...

Re: Overwhelmed newbie!

I got referred by my gp to st James in Leeds without problem although I live 60 miles away.

I had seen a consultant and lens practitioner there privately for a few years beforehand though

Re: Current research into long term corneal damage after CXL

Hmmmm

Sounds very subjective and not easy to read into......!

Don't know what to make of it other than see what happens in a year or so's time when my cxl has been done for 18 months or so.....

Re: Overwhelmed newbie!

Excellent.

At the risk of sounding like a parent ...DON'T RUB!!!

I used lacri lube at night and hypromellose through the day for years that served me well with rgp's. If you end up on soft lenses then the drops and lube all change

Re: Overwhelmed newbie!

Cherry Suggest you get your doctor to do you a prescription for appropriate eye drops to whatever lenses you end up with. I have a prescription card and get through 3 x 28 droppers of systane drops per month as well as using a Yorkshire eye bag company eye bag which is very soothing and I recommend....

Re: Overwhelmed newbie!

Hello You will soon get the hang of the lenses. As Andrew says there are an amazing host of different materials and options these days. I had rgp's for 14 years, now can't tolerate them but soft lenses by kerasoft specialist for kerataconus have kept me driving. I was very ignorant to the many proce...

Re: Seriously considering CXL....

£1650 plus £60 for an initial consultation I think. He may recommend something full 'epi off' for you but will talk you through all possibilities. Kerasoft are great lenses. So comfortable. Just be prepared for the fact you will have haloes at night and have to be patient as I am told at every fitti...

Re: Seriously considering CXL....

I had Femto pocket cxl done. Less invasive and easier/quicker to recover from than full 'Eli' off cxl. Not many use this method. David Jory at ultra vision clinic in Harley St did mine. Happily recommend him. Super chap really cares, knows his stuff and will advise what's best for you most important...
