Re: Intacts & Informing work you have KC , afraid of losing

My left eye requires either a rgp lens at 11.8 mm or a mini scleral at 14.4 mm. The 14.4 is easy to place in the eye by using a plunger or even the top of the lens removal tool to hold it. You just use the tube as the flat surface to hold the lens and then look in one direction and place it in the e...

Re: Eye mucus/ RGP's and KC

I had lasik in 99 and my eyes were dry before the lasik. But they of course tell you that your eyes will go back to normal after the lasik procedure...not true. So then I got ectasia because the doc cut too deeply and now I live daily with what you describe. When I wake I squirt my eyses just to mak...

Re: Do you see multiple moons?

I see multiple moons that look real. lol Now when I use a pinhole pair of glasses I only see one moon. I guess I need to ask my optometrist to see what increasing the power will do. I am glad I am not alone on that.

Do you see multiple moons?

I was wondering how many of you see multiple moons when looking at the moon? I have ectasia and I see two or three moons when looking at the moon and I can't tell you which one is the real moon. But if I place my hand in a fist/circle type of pinhole I see only one moon. Kind of annoying but I am cu...

Re: CxL & RGP contacts

When I first started wearing contacts they were RGP lenses back in the later 70's early 80's. I never had KC but developed corneal ectasia after lasik. I had cross linking on the left eye in 2008 and it did seem to stop the progression of the ectasia. The cornea did change a bit after having a catar...

Re: Ectasia and Topographies

My left eye now shows a corneal thickness in the center of 470 with over 600 on the outer edges. That eye has the confirmed ectasia. The right eye I don't know yet on the thickness but the only mention of ectasia by the specialist was afew weeks ago even though the optometrists have told me that the...

Ectasia and Topographies

I have a question and maybe you guys will know this. When I first had lasik the left eye got blurry after about a year or so. The left eye was then diagnosed with ectasia back in 2008. There was never any mention of ectasia on the right eye but the vision in that eye went bad about two years ago. Bu...

Re: When was Corneal ectasia "known""?

Hi Lynn, You have stated it right on target. The below is exactly what I was told by the surgery team. I think they are just full of themselves. I never knew about ectasia until 2008 and after the doctor at the center told me it was "known" I checked with other institutions and they claim ...

Re: When was Corneal ectasia "known""?

I appreciate your knowledge and input. When I had lasik in 1999 from what I have read, ectasia was known in Germany and the UK and doctors were told about it. I am asking my doctor for lifetime medical care for the eye because it is very costly and quite a scary prospect. I was told that "ectas...

Re: Post cxl and what to expect

I can only talk from my experience with cxl here in the US trials. My ectasia had gone to the point of about 20/200 vision on the Snellen chart. Sorry..don't know the charts yet for UK and Europe. The progression was seemingly stopped/slowed. It sounds like your daughter had done well after cxl. I w...
