Re: keraflex
Wow! Thank you Michael for posting that link. As someone who is still considering various treatment options, the results shown in that presentation make me want to stay away from Keraflex for now. The topographies shown look only marginally less steep after 18 months, and somewhat more complex/irreg...

Re: keratoconus research - tell us your priorities
I would like to echo the above post! KC being a rare and diverse condition, it's a shame that most of the research papers in the literature are based on just a small number of local patients. I suspect it will take larger statistical samples for researchers to make breakthroughs in understanding the...

Re: Piggy backing - a sincere recommendation
Hi Chris,
Thanks for sharing your positive story, it's nice to read about your improved comfort!
Do you notice any drawbacks to piggy backing? I remember reading it might let somewhat less oxygen pass than "normal" lenses, do you notice it at all?

Re: When did your Keratoconous stop progressing?
Hi Chris, I would argue that, exactly because KC is so diverse, only a large database of real data can help us inform our decision making. For example, I would love to see the histogram of change in visual acuity for people of roughly my age & corneal thickness, who did and didn't have crosslink...

Re: When did your Keratoconous stop progressing?
Wouldn't it be nice to have access to an (anonymized) statistical dataset on KC? I'm thinking about acuity and curvature as a function of age, plus information on surgery or lenses used. Visualizing such data is the only way we might truly grasp the "typical" progression of KC together wit...

Re: Night driving problem
Hi Tom! Is the glare variable between blinks, or is it more or less constant? Do you naturally have wide pupils? I wear a semi-scleral rigid lens (SO2Clear) and often see transient "circular patterns" around bright lights at night, or whenever my pupils are huge (I naturally have very wide...

Do you shower with contacts?
When I Google "Can you wear contact lenses in the shower?", I find many sources which suggest we should avoid showering and swimming whilst wearing contact lenses, to reduce the risk of infection by "Acanthamoeba". This is the nasty little bug which lives in tap water, and is als...

My experience with PMD and a semi-scleral lens
Hi all, This is my first post. I have been reading the archive of this wonderful forum over the past few months, which has been super interesting. This place contains a lot of real-life experiences and in-depth details which cannot be found elsewhere. A big thank-you to the people that run this foru...
