Re: KC Stabilised at 29??

Can I jump in on the back of this one? My son has KC in both eyes and has had a successful intac procedure in his right eye at Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield. However the KC in his left eye is such that an intac is not possible. For the last 6 years son has been wearing a contact lens in his left ey...

Re: New to this forum. Son has KC.

Thanks, this is helpful and I didn't know the reasoning for cxl not being performed on NHS where the cornea has become thin (I presume you meant under 400 microns thick?). In Andrew's case it's 360. Our latest consultation suggests that Andrew should have another try with a contact lens to stabilise...

many thanks Chris, that's sound advice and a very kind offer which I may yet take you up on. I'll say the name, AXA PPP.

Re: New to this forum. Son has KC.

Hi everyone I thought it worthwhile, after such a cracking response from people, that I added the next chapters. A couple of months ago we picked up on work done by a Mr Imran Rahman who has been working on a procedure called keraflex. I contacted him. I'll leave it for people who aren't sure what k...

Re: New to this forum. Son has KC.

Hi Lynn Yes indeed, the team at the Royal Hallamshire have been absolutely first rate. The downside is that it's a long trek for us but eased by lunch at the nearby Loch Fyne Restaurant! I believe that cross linking in Andrew's left eye has been discounted because of it's general condition, although...

Re: New to this forum. Son has KC.

Many thanks to Anne and Chris. Anne - I've PM'd my postal address. Chris - what a great reply. Re contact lenses, the Consultant at Sheffield was fairly non-committal, "it's up to you" sort of thing. Andrew has been getting his lenses from our local Vision Express shop where one of the opt...

New to this forum. Son has KC.

Hi all I'm the parent of a 23 year old who was diagnosed as having KC 18 months ago. We got him referred to the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield as our NHS in East Lancashire can't deal with KC, it seems. He has had a successful intac implant in his right eye (he reads the bottom line on the sight cha...
