First hospital appointment in 5 years

I wondered if any of you kind souls could help me out. Bear with me as it's probably going to be lengthy! I was diagnosed with bilateral Keratoconus 1995. I've been out of the system for a while and I had my first check-up at the eye clinic yesterday. The first one in five years it turns out - fooli...

Re: RGP Contact Lens Materials

And as an addition to the above, can anyone help my confusion regarding obtaining contact lenses? I have a few questions: Do I have to get lenses from the local hospital eye clinic/contact lens clinic? Can I go to an optician who specialises in contact lenses (specifically Keratoconus lenses) and ha...

Re: East Midlands local group?

Hey Ian,

Thanks for letting me know. I'm in Nottingham and would like to come along to the next meeting and get involved. I'll keep my eyes peeled(!) for the next meeting.

Regards,

Mike

My current lenses were prescribed and manufactured in the early 2000's but I've no idea about the material the...

East Midlands local group?

Could anyone tell me if the East Midlands local group is active? The sub-forum dedicated to it has no posts and no way of posting to it. The others (Manchester, West Midlands etc.) seem very active.

Many thanks.

Re: A cautionary tale

Thanks Anne!

I had a meeting with my tutors on Thursday and took the 'Supporting Students' leaflet with me. It certainly helped them to understand the condition and how it affects us all day to day. The University have been amazing and put in place a number of adjustments that will help me out.

A cautionary tale

Hi everyone - I'm new to the forums but am a long time KC sufferer. I was diagnosed in 1995 at the age of 23. I was serving in the British Army and had just returned from a tour in Bosnia when I noticed that my vision had become worse and worse. A trip to the Opticians led to an appointment at the M...
