Re: Tips to make wearing RGP lenses easier?

HI, Maybe ask if they would consider letting you piggyback. This involves wearing a soft lens under the heard lens, and can reduce the amount of irritation from the hard lens. Have piggybacked in my left eye for two years following an operation, and I have no issues at all. However, I have to agree ...

Re: Is this normal after INTACs operation?

HI, Sounds very similar to my experience with Intacs. Basically lived in sunglasses for some weeks after the op, as even daylight was quite an effort. Thankfully they also allowed me to have some anaesthetic drops to ease the pain, which was considerable for a few days, although these aren't to be r...

Re: Weaning off piggybacks?

HI, I have been piggybacking in my left eye for nearly two years now, following and intacs op. It was felt that my cornea was quite fragile, and that the extra protection from the soft lens, could prevent any irritation from the RGP lens, which I had a lot off before the op. I haven't looked back si...

Re: Annoyed!

HI Oz, I can share your frustration. I was supposed to have my left eye done in Feb, but the hospiatl forgot to order the equipment, This delayed it for about 6 weeks, and then my surgeon had to get his Easter holidays in, which delayed it again. Finally ended up in theatre on April 1st !!!! - and h...

Re: RGP Lenses and Plane Travel

Hi, I travel all the time short haul, and long haul with my job, and as a lens wearer it was obviously concerning when they banned fluids on a flight. I basically travel now with a large number of the one-shot eye drops in various pockets, and in my hand luggage, as well as at least a couple of lens...

Hi Roger, I have just returned from Egypt, and as a fellow RGP lens wearer I shared your concern before I went. I really didn't have too much problem with it when I was there. I think because the air was so still that the sand/dust wasn't airbourne in great quantities. I found that by keeping sungla...

Hi Eileen, Not sure if i'm adding anything that the previous contributiors haven't already said, but I would just like to add my experience of living a normal life with KC. I was originally diagnosed at the age of 16, whch was some 25 years ago. Since then I have managed to complete university, driv...
