Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

I constantly misjudge depths of pavements etc. and thought it was just me. Even with contact lenses in I seem to get it wrong. Steps I also find a problem. Whenever I go out to a concert at the O2 or at a stadium I find the steps there are a nightmare. As you don't have a stick, or a guide dog, the ...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

In response to Tristan's question. I think it's fantastic that you have managed with your lenses for so long. Is it possible to consider another option rather than a donated cornea? Yes, they may wonderful if they work, but what if they don't? Would your surgeon agree to re-graft you? I don't mean t...

Re: Operation

Hi, All the best for the 4th. I was totally fine after the anesthetic but was in a lot of pain overnight as my iris had been starved of oxygen. This was found the morning after the op and after a few eye drops felt a bit better but I must admit I wanted to keep my eye closed for quite a few days aft...

Re: Participants Wanted: Corneal Graft Experience Questionna

Hi Zoe,

I had my graft in May 2010. It wasn't successful but if you wish me to still help in your survey I would be quite willing.

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

I also forgot to mention that after an optician's appointment today my younger son was told that his cornea was changing shape. It is not yet keratoconus but he has to return in six months. He is only seventeen and I had hoped I would not pass this onto my sons. After my treatment I am not sure wher...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Just an update on my condition. Have left the bank as it made me totally depressed and finally found another job after eight months of being at home. Now work as a health care assistant in a hospital. Have to drive, sometimes at night, which is a problem but love the job even though it is very hard ...

Re: New to KC

Hi Nicola, I have had Keratoconus for the last twenty eight years. My eldest son is twenty one and my youngest seventeen. Both now wear glasses/contact lens. I have regularly had their eyes checked and have mentioned my problem to their opticians before they go in to be checked. Luckily at the momen...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

:D I can see again!!! I think it's been about four years since I had any sight in my left eye and thanks again to my surgeon Mr. Tom Poole and optician Philip Saunders I have a new lens. It's quite a large lens that is hard but seems to have a soft layer inside. ( I will ask which one it is when I g...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Hi All, Had a great time meeting you all on 18th June. It is nice to know that "one "is not alone in suffering and everyone has a different story to tell. Had surgery again last Tuesday 12th July. Had to spend a while in each recovery section of the theatres as no bed was available for me....

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Hi Anne, Have managed to swop Saturday 18th with a colleague so will be able to attend conference. Am about to complete my booking form now. Have had to take another sickie today as hybrid lens so greasy yesterday at work I was unable to see to do anything! Kept cleaning it every fifteen minutes but...
