Hello Ed - I 've had INTACS too for moderate KC, like Louise. I'm at the Conference next week: if you (or anyone else) is there I'd be happy to discuss. I had one eye done a year ago, the other 6 months ago. My vision's not perfect, but... 1) Are intacs any good for mild KC with intolerance to conta...

Hello folks - I've had INTACS too in both eyes seperately: L in Jun 06, R in Jan 07. My experience of recovery is that it takes much longer than dp experienced. I had them both under general anasthetic at Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre. My L eye is still changing slowly (for the better) and has...

I've replied to the consultation too: thanks to Anne for giving me a prompt. In my opinion the document seems very straightforward and clear. From my perspective as a patient with INTACS in both eyes to correct moderate KC, I agree with everything said except that the opinion that corneal implants a...

Hi folks - I too have INTACS (in one eye, and I'm having the other one done in Jan 07). I can't wear RGP or even kerasoft lenses because they irritate me too much. I think it's more the physical fit and the shape rather than oxygen. I'm currently wearing the B&L PureVision mentioned earlier in t...

Good advice from Anne - there are a few of us in the forum at various stages of treatment who may be able to share their experiences. For best results when searching spell it like you did INTACS and not like Gareth! :) (Nothing personal Gareth - you're doing a great job)

This sounds a bit familiar. I wore soft(ish) lenses for a while but I never could manage more than about 4 hrs a day before they irritated me. My eyes felt really dry, but what did make it better was Focus Aqua solution (which seems to keep the lenses 'moister') and Focus Aqua eye drops every now an...

Good to hear from Mickey - I felt sure there was someone else out there who was having INTACS. I had my left eye done in June, and I was quite disappointed that, at first, nothing seemed to happen. In fact, after a month, I had come to the conclusion that it was actually worse. However, after nearly...

INTACS

Hello everyone - my first post. I've been diagnosed with mild/moderate KC for a few years now but despite the best efforts of my optometrist and hospital contact lens fitters, we've not found any contact lenses that I can tolerate for more than 2 or 3 hours. The best, incidentally, are a silicone hy...
