Re: Latest news from a part-tiem regular

Rosemary, Sorry to hear about Duke. My continuous stitch came undone late one night (why is it always late at night when you have to muddle your way to A&E in the dark?!). I had the whole thing taken out at the slit lamp under local anaesthetic that same evening. With the benefit of hindsight an...

Re: goin in for cornea graft on Monday 5th October

Very best wishes for tomorrow Shabeena. I had mine done 8 years ago, and, having been very anxious about it, I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it went. Let us know how things go once you're feeling up to it.

West Midlands meeting 13th June

I tried to start this topic in the West Midlands forum, but it seems it might be locked so that only moderators can start topics? I received some post to tell me of the upcoming West Mids meeting on 13th June, and I'd have really liked to be able to get to it as the topic of dry eyes is something I'...

Re: How do they take the Stitches out?

I had a mixture of interrupted stitches and one continuous stitch that went all the way round the graft. When I had some of the individual stitches removed as a 'planned' thing, I would have up to 6 at a time removed at the slit lamp with some local anaesthetic drops. Unfortunately, my stitches seem...

Re: Have you ever wondered....

I have some close-ups photos of my grafted eye too, with and without a few different lenses. Scott at Moorfields wanted to take them to use to teach about good / bad lens fitting, and I asked him if he could e-mail them to me as well, as like you I'd never really seen a close up of my graft before!

Some good news

I just found out yesterday that I passed my last lot of medical Finals exams and am thus now finally qualified as a doctor :D I'm so excited and relieved, I can't believe that finally after 6 and a half long years it's over and I've finally done it. But done it is, and as soon as I can get my GMC re...

Re: Scleral lens

I've just been fitted for my first pair of sclerals after lots of trials with RGPs that never really worked. By the time I go for my appointment in a couple of weeks' time I'll have waited about 10 weeks whilst the lenses were being made for me. As the others have said, because I went through Moorfi...

Re: Good luck to Rosemary

Ah, the joys of google! At risk of sounding slightly condescending, which I in no way intend to be, be careful what google throws back at you, especially when it comes to medical information, and even moreso with research papers. It can often end up in more confusion and anxiety than when you first ...
