Re: How easy is it to move hospitals?

Well that was quicker than I thought! Saw my GP on Monday and got a letter today saying I am booked in for 1st October under book & choose. Hopefully now I can be sorted out! Is Moorfields walkable from Kings Cross? Googlemaps says 1.5 miles, which I don't mind, but wondered if there is footpath...

Re: How easy is it to move hospitals?

Thanks Chris, sounds like it should be straightforward then. I need to explain to my GP that the problems cause me to be very down and as a result I don't take care of myself (health wise I mean, not washing ha!!)

How easy is it to move hospitals?

I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the eye hospital where I am seen and my numerous eye conditions are getting worse. I am seeing my GP tomorrow and want to ask to move to Moorfields. Has anyone moved before? How easy was it? I know you can "book and choose" for one-off treatment...

Can finally (almost!) see properly

I had keratoconus since my early 20s, mild in the left eye, bad in the right. In 2006, I developed hydrops in the right eye and had a graft later that year. Then in 2007 when I awoke in a dream-like state, my left hand formed a fist and hit the right eye so hard it split the graft and the lens part ...

Anyone know where I can get an elasticated plastic eye guard

Occasionally I will wake up in the night with my grafted eye really sore and watery. It settles by the morning, tender for a day, then fine. I can only assume I have subjected it to pillow rub and so want to protect it. I got a plastic eye guard after the actual operation but that was fiddly taping ...

Re: Being tried for glasses - need time to adjust?

Thanks for the reply!

How were you "given glasses"? Presumably you didn't go round wearing the metal "test" frames where they put in and take out lenses! Do you get a plastic pair with some lenses inserted?

Being tried for glasses - need time to adjust?

A brief history, I have had very mild KC in my left eye for years. In my right eye I had it worse, eventually hydrops, then a graft. Due to a subsequent accident I lost the lens part of the right eye, though the cornea was saved. I have now had all the sutures removed and the eye itself feels fine b...

Re: Eye sore after sutures removed

Today's the first day it is feeling just a bit sore rather than a lot so must be healing! I guess I have to remember when I have had stitches out before they were loose ones so by their very nature easy to remove. This time it was removing fixed stitches which had to be "unpicked" for want...

Re: Eye sore after sutures removed

Well I got the news quicker than I thought. The plan is to take all the remaining sutures out in stages (can't take them all out in one go to avoid risking rejection, plus it would be even sorer than I feel today!) Then the cornea is going to be allowed to "rest" to determine its final sha...

Eye sore after sutures removed

Yesterday I was seen at my eye hospital and had four sutures removed from my 3.5 year old graft. This was in the late afternoon. This morning my eye is very tender and watery, the eyelid a bit puffy and there is some redness, though still plenty of normal white visible. Is this normal? From Googling...
