Re: Removal of Sutures

For me suture removals are generally in the chair with local anaesthetic drops. I feel a bit of pressure and a mild pull, but no pain. I then have a 4 hour drive home, I always take a designated driver. I find after the local wears off a dull ache, sometimes I require paracetomol, after a few hours ...

Bitting the Contact lens bullet

My corneas have been misbehaving for the last 12 months. According to my opthalmologist they are "strugglIng". Basically I have had hazing on and off, due to my epithelial layer not clearing properly. This causes my astigmatism to worsen each time. Both eyes are grafted, 12 and 13 years ag...

Re: Rejecting again

No, but to be fair, no one can say how long a graft will last. Corneas as old as 99 can be transplanted. I don't know the age of mine, but theoretically an older cornea may not last as long as a younger one. We also do not know what has happened to the eyes our corneas come from. I know I have treat...

Re: Update on Son.

Anne I was 27 and 28 when I had my grafts done, and my mother sat in on both consults those descisons were made in. If your son required support then I am sure he was glad someone was there for him. It is a bit of a shock when it is decided and it helps, well it helped me, to have another person tak...

Re: CHILD WITH KC

My daughter is seven, with a wicked astigmatism, which we have been warned will probably develop into KC at about puberty. She got glasses at 4 and after 3 frames broke in 3 months I decided we would see about lenses. She has been wearing them for a little over a fortnight now. She wears Rigid Gas P...

Re: Rejecting again

I always knew grafts have a lifespan, and it varies. I wanted 30 years out of each, maybe I was greedy, but a lady I knew got 30 years out of hers so I decided that was a good benchmark. This graft is over 12, the other is 13 both are therefore successful. As well as that I have had up until this ye...

Re: Rejecting again

Actually Andrew 2 reasons, the first was I really felt nothing much was going on, no redness, no pain, no real extra sensitivity to light, that came later. So I thought maybe my axis were moving, they moved earlier this year and I had my script changed but I was told they could continue to shift a b...

Re: Rejecting again

Yeah my electrician is a shocky. We use him for all our electrical work, but he has been known to do interesting dances. Really interested to see the thread about what happens after rejection. That is an area I have not had to delve into. The worst part about my 700 km trip is an area called Anthony...

Rejecting again

I went to the optometrist again cause my Left eye seemed more blurry than normal without specs. I told her I was being paranoid. She said fine best to check it all out. I had early rejection in my right eye in Feb this year and June 2000. I am beginning to feel like I live at the optometrists becaus...

Re: 1 year post graft blurred vision

I went to the optometrist yesterday (7 months since my last appointment) because I noticed I was getting a few headaches. Put it down to eye strain. Felt maybe I was not seeing quite as well, but not sure. I must admit I have been known to be a bit paranoid about my sight at times. So I went in full...
