Yet another trophy!

Postby GarethB » Sun 05 Nov 2006 5:18 pm

Yep my car has been awarded another trophy :D

It would have been nice to have been presented with it at the NEC last week as it would have looked good against the other Gold cup :x

The one on the left I got in June and the one on the right is new. I am now the Gold Cup RS Capri Class winner for the AVO Owners Club and the RS Owners Club :D

Is this car like Trigger's broom? 14 new heads and 7 new handles?

Is there anything on the car that was new with the car?

It can't all just be clean, can it? Surely there's a lot been replaced?

Looking at this on a different pc I need to reduce the picture sizes!

The new parts are;

Exhaust
Fuel pump
Rocker cover has been repainted
Underneth the rear arches have been repainted.
Vlave timing gear replaced from the original plastic to steel (can not see as it is within the engine!).
Boot mat replaced as the original was missing.
Rear windscreen replaced in 1990 after a brick was put through it.
Opeing rear quarter windows replaced in 1979 after the glue on the window catches gave way.

Everything is as it left the factory, but this car has spen half its life in storage and is not at the 45000 mile mark yet.

Polishing this car is one of the things I can do without vision. When I have spare time, I will clean another part of the car. Nothing on TV or the radio inetersts me and not found a book that holds my attention for sometime. Doing the car gives me time to relax away from work and familly. If I work on the car during the week it is always after my daughter is in bed so not as if I amneglecting the familly.

My wife likes the arrangement has it gives her space to do her own thing so we never have time to get board of each other when we are together as a couple or tegether as a familly :D

How's your garage conversion coming.

You mean the garage-clear-out!

VERY slow. I intend to do some work this week, if it's not too cold to be out there. Weather forecasts warmer weather from Wednesday! :-)

You are right Anne, there are nuts and bolts everywhere. They are the only things I recognise!

Lovely cups though. Well done Gareth.

Well done Gareth

I am sure you deserve them but I am a little confused. Did you win them for having a clean car?

I have a ford KA (brand new last September). I have already washed it twice and the garrage washed it again (and hoovered inside too) when it went in for it's service. When I say washed - I hosed it down a couple of times after driving on the motorway last winter (because of the salt grit - it is cold up north!) but the OH said I was being obcessive so I stopped.

I have never looked to see if the engine is clean like yours - I think there is a button I can press somewhere to open the lid and have a look - but maybe I am best leaving well alone.

I know how to put petrol in and I have breakdown cover for flat tyres etc. so I'm not worried :)

Anne; Yes the car is cleaner than the bog but please do not use it as one :D

Inside is clearer as this is where I take my lenses out when I am at shows, so that needs to be clean.

Brigid; Yup, awards for havinga clean car as at the momenmt this is the only competitive competition I can take part in with my car while having KC. Hopefully if I can get fitted with Kerasoft lenses I can enter me and the car in proper circuit events and perhaps get a trophy for being the quickest.

Lesley; At home it is I that does the housework, ironing, gardening, cleaning the evryday cars (not to the same standard as the Capri) and as the Trophies do not fit in the cupboard the rest are kept in I suppose I will have to clean them too :D

I have been asked if I would like to take on a car valeting job which should pay well as his clients have Ferraris and Laborghinis and such like and a single job would last a couple days and set you back atleast £3000

Can't see me enjoying that quite so much :D
