CXL Ghosting Recovery

Postby tasteofhypocrisy » Sun 25 Jan 2015 2:01 pm

Hello,

I am a new member here. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus in both eyes. Unfortunately my right eye had been suffering from the disease since a long time and my right eye vision was already terrible. I was also being ignorant because my left eye was perfect and I left my right eye unattended. As I am a software engineer, most of my time is spent in front of computer. Few days back, I started experiencing dry eyes with a little blurriness in my left eye for which I was really concerned. I went to the eye specialist and topographic examination showed keratoconus in both eyes. However my left eye only started to suffer from this disease. My eye doctor advised me CXL without taking some time to see if keratoconus is progressing in left eye. I did my little research on the procedure and read about how safe CXL is. I also took opinions from another eye doctor and he also advised me to go for CXL. Without knowing much about the recovery and healing time I agreed and undergone CXL in both eyes on 2nd January from a very famous eye surgeon in my town. It has been exactly 23 days now, my vision is blurrier than what it was before. I am not really observing my right eye because it was never very good. But my left eye was still very crisp prior to the CXL procedure. Although, the blurry vision and haziness is improving little day by day, I am really worried about the GHOSTING I have developed after the procedure. I went to my doc for follow up the next day of my surgery, at 1 week, 2nd week and 3rd week. According to my doc its all going good and smooth and I should be patient in seeing the positive results. I know that the healing might take upto 3 to 6 months but I am really concerned about the GHOSTING. I did alot of research about CXL recovery and healing but couldnt find any information or experiences in which people developed GHOSTING and was later resolved. However, I did find people sharing there experience of PRK surgery that they developed ghosting in first few months but finally got rid of it. I know I am being a little impatient but if any of you can help me by educating me a bit more and if this double vision is normal after CXL because this is really disturbing and frustating and I get dizzy all the time focusing on different images. This is probably the cause that Im getting very frequent headaches and this is affecting my daily life. My eyes are not dry during the daytime I guess but only when I sleep I get really dry eyes which affects my sleep. My doctor has advised me VIGAMOX, CORTISTEROIDS Tobradex and Systane Hydrating Eye Drops. I am advised to use them 4 times a day for complete 1 month of surgery. Any help by sharing information or experiences would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi there. I'm currently recovering from severe corneal hazing after CXL, it's been almost 2 months now and have seen very little improvement. Can you humour me and tell me what the difference is between hazing and ghosting? I'm guessing you mean seeing numerous versions of things etc. at the moment I can't even see one thing! I have done a lot of research on what I'm experiencing so might be able to help out, but I think we have got different results.

Either way, the eye generally takes 12 months after CXL to get back to where it was, so unfortunately it's mainly a waiting game with this c**p :|

Hey bro,

I feel sorry for what you have been going through. I think haze causes dusty cloudy or smoky vision while ghosting is when you see shadow image of the light objects on dark backgrounds normally in low light and specially at night. I wish you a speedy recovery. Anyone else who can answer my concerns, I would really appreciate.

Thanks!

Thank you, and I wish you luck too. Just to let you know that with my other eye, which was done last summer, I've seen great improvement with light reflections and shadowing (which I think is basically the same as ghosting, just the way I've always referred to it)

After 3 months I got a new contact lens prescription which has really helped.

Taste- how did your ghosting go? Now two years later what was your story?
