A two part programme will be on BBC3 at 9pm on Monday 1st and the following Monday 8th. 'The Human Tissue Squad' is a documentary featuring the Human Tissue bank in Liverpool. The programmes are about a whole variety of tissue but include two cases of corneal transplants. I'm afraid I don't know whether the corneas are in episode 1 or 2, so anybody interested will need to watch both!

I've just watched this program, I found it very moving. I had a transplant 2 years ago and it has changed my life completely. I am so grateful that someone was kind enough to donate their cornea and also to their family for supporting their decision. I always think about my donor on the anniversary of my transplant and say a little thank you!

I've not seen this yet, but I also appreciate all the people who can give such a great gift. Although I do not require a transplant myself, it's seriously made me consider going on the donor list for other parts of me that might help someone! Not my bloody eyes though, that's for sure lol.
Re: BBC3 Mon 1st and 8th September
I do the same holmes I have had two transplants and I am so very grateful for them everyday. I could really empathise with Tom's situation, I also wear a scleral in one eye and have had to withdraw from uni courses etc because of KC so it was comforting to see someone of a similar age to me going through a similiar experience. I hope his graft is healing well.
Lets hope more people sign up to the donor list

Re: BBC3 Mon 1st and 8th September
Finally got round to watching this tonight. I was wondering, and I hope this doesn't sound like a harsh question, but why does he seem to have one eye bigger than the other? It's particularly noticeable before his operation.
Re: BBC3 Mon 1st and 8th September
He wears a scleral in one eye which makes his eye appear larger and he had a graft in his other eye. I noticed because I wear a scleral in one eye so mine is the same too
Good to see KC in the media to raise awareness, George's story was interesting too!

Oh really, didn't realise that. I think I'd have to wear them in both eyes if I ever went that route!
