Hi

Does anyone have experience of KeraSoft IC lenses? Did you get them on the NHS, if not how much did they cost?

Thanks in advance

C

HI

I have had Kerasoft 3 and IC post and pre CXL. They where £58 through NHS in Leeds....not sure if this varies or not, they are £186 privately and a number of different materials and require specialist fitting. If you check the Kerasoft website they have a list of practicioners I believe.

Very comfortable lenses but as with anything KC related.....they can work for some and not others.

Best of luck! (NB Also check you use the correct cleaning fluids as I found this can make a big difference)

The NHS price is standard across England, variations may occur in Scotland and Wales. The £58 is per eye, but if you have the three monthly disposables you will have to pay the £58 per eye every six months but I found the lenses lasted far longer than the recomended three months and would wear them for between 9 and 12 months. Entirely up to you if you take this route and will be frowned upon by your lens practitioner and the lens manufacturers as you will be going against medical guidance, I now use the 12 monthly disposables.

Been wearing Kerasoft IC for about five years and comfort and visiona re far better than I got with RGP lenses.

The only way you will truly know if these lenses are for you is if you try them.

Plus lens care of Kerasoft IC is far less than for RGP lenses in my experience.

Thanks for the info.

I got the feeling that NHS GGC were reluctant to offer them due to them needing to order a full set from the manufacture for fitting. Also, I heard that repeat prescriptions weren't consistent/accurate - Have you found your 3 monthly or annual lenses to be the same as each set or have you noticed any variation or issues in each new set?

Thanks again

With any lens you will get slight variations due to inherent manufacturing tolerences and I have found that people with KC (me included) are more critical of slight changes because we are always on the look out to see if our KC is getting worse.

Where I have noticed changes it is usually a subtle change in the sharpness of the line I normaly see on the eye chart, so nothing like loosing a line or two of vision. I also find the same as I did with changes in RGP lenses in that they seem different when I get a new lens but that only lasts no more than a week and that just may be me being sensitive to the fact I have a new lens and most of us worry if everything will be OK.
