Conjunctivitis and RGP

Postby AlexMorgan » Mon 12 Feb 2018 8:35 am

Hello,

After 10 years of KC without any eye infections, I picked up conjunctivitis two weeks ago. Firstly in my eye with minimal KC and in the last week in my eye with quite advanced KC. :x

Over the past few days my eye has been gunk-free and not red so I’ve been reintroducing my RGP lens into that eye. However what I’m finding is that the conjunctivitis flares up again afterwards.

What I’m wondering is if my lens is infected and is carrying the bacteria back into my eye each time. I’m using CooperVision Delta Plus to clean my lens. Would this sufficiently clean the lens to rid it of the conjunctivitis? If not how else can I sterilise the lens and avoid paying for a replacement and binning a perfectly decent lens?

Thanks for your help.

Alex

I think this is one that you need your optometrist to answer. I don't know if the infection can have got on the lens, but if it has, it's no longer a 'perfectly decent lens'!
